Rice Export

Punjab plans to export 50 per cent of the 7.50 million tonnes of annual rice production to get remunerative prices for farmers of the state, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said yesterday. After signing of an MoU between a Punjab rice miller and an American importer here, Badal told newspersons the state had reached production levels where export of agriculture produce, including wheat, rice and vegetables, had become necessary to uplift the Punjab farmers.
