S Korea Firm On Developing Tadri Port

The Karntaka government has shortlisted a South Korean company to develop the Tadri port. S Patil, principal secretary, industries and commerce, said the company would develop the green field project, though the modalities of the project will be known only after the Cabinet takes a decision on it.
Speaking about the Global Investors Meet to be held in the city on June 5 and 6, Patil said 212 delegates had confirmed their participation and that the numbers are expected to go up to 400 by the time the GIM started on June 5.
He said the government has been making committed efforts to attract investments into the state, and was particularly focusing on the auto engineering and agro food processing industries.
Patil also said the government has been looking at investments in sectors like cement, steel, and infrastructure. He said TVS-Suzuki was going in for a Rs 450 crore expansion plan at its Mysore plant. Ceat, part of the RPG group, is also investing about Rs 110 crores in a tyre plant at Dharwad in the state, he said.
