Sensex Falls Below 3200-Mark

A similar downward trend was witnessed at NSE yesterday with the NSE-50 index losing a further 11.35 points closing at 924.92 points.
Brokers said the lacklustre sentiment which was witnessed in the last few weeks trading session continued to have a bearing on the market. "The volume of business was low and State Bank of India was the only scrip which witnessed any real activity", a broker said.
Marketmen said there was a lot of activity both from local operators and also from FIIs was witnessed in the stock since the pricing of the bank's GDR issue was scheduled for late yesterday evening.
A BSE broker said though some Indian institutions, LIC in particular, have been making selective purchases in recent weeks. The buying support, however, is little to arrest the downslide in the indices or to improve trading sentiments.
