Singer Signs Marketing Pact With Baron

Singer India has entered into a marketing alliance with Baron International, the manufacturer of the leading Japanese consumer electronics brand Akai in the country.
Under the agreement, Singer will use its widespread retail network to sell the Akai televisions in India while Baron International will be the main distributor for the products.
Meanwhile, Singer is also launching colour televisions under its own Singer brand name and has already started test marketing for these products. While the company is manufacturing a majority of these at its newly acquired plant in Jammu, it also sources some of its TVs from Delhi based Vachani-promoted Dixon Electronics.
This was disclosed by M Coutinho, chairman Singer India. Coutinho elaborated: We are going to become major marketing company in consumer goods products, specially brown goods, refrigerators and washing machines. He added that while televisions will be marketed under Akai and Singer brands, the company is negotiating with some multinational companies to market their refrigerator and washing machine models.
