Avertino Miranda BSCAL

Maharashtra Span Aviation plans to make a foray into charter flights with an exclusive fleet of aircraft. The company's main strategy is to introduce low priced chartered flights targetted at the fast growing corporate sector in the western region. The company plans to induct a P-68 (5-seater Taneja aircraft) and C-90 (7-seater Beechcraft) plane. The third B-200 - a 9-seater Beechcraft - will join the fleet in September.

The charter rate for C-90 will be Rs 32,500 per hour, while for the P-68 it will be an extremely low rate of Rs 16,000 per hour. "The chartered flights will cater to markets in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka," said Prabin Guptey, managing director, Maharashtra Span Aviation. Because of the low price of the aircrafts, he said the company would be able to afford lower charter rates. Besides the corporate sector, the company hopes to get substantial charter business from the state governments in various states. The state government is reportedly its regular customer.

The new charter flights of it is expected to add 10 per cent revenue to the targetted turnover of Rs 20 crore for the current year.

Plans are also afoot to induct additional 19-seater Beechcrafts to its existing fleet of four 13-seater Beechcrafts.
