Trades, volumes, prices and all data pertaining to the exchange are recorded both in the main Tandem Himalaya K200008 hardware located at the CSE building at 7 Lyons Range and in the backup hardware located at 6 Lyons Range.
Tandem Himalaya K200008 is a fully fault-tolerant, scaleable system used by some of the most sophisticated stock exchanges worldwide.
The CSE is the fourth stock exchange in India after Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai to base its on-line trading on the Tandem platform.
Rajan T Bhavnani, managing director of Tandem Computers India Ltd, said: We are also developing other security market linked products, for example hardware required by brokers who will have a wide network of their own traders and will need to have a network of their own. Hardware required if another depository is set up in India is also being looked into.
Bhavnani said the Dhaka stock exchange is also scheduled to go on-line and Tandem will provide the system solution along with one of its key partners, Indigo Technologies.
The company is also eyeing the rapidly changing Indian securities market. Market globalisation will lead to trading round the clock and this will increase the need for reliable, secure and fast solutions in computing.
Tandem is also developing solutions which will make relevant trading data instantly available on a brokers computer, enable a person to check the impact of trading on his portfolio and cash/margin requirements, place buy/sell orders for immediately confirmed trade on a market open for trade for same-day settlement and transfer electronic stock.
