They will include a wide range, such as funds transfer (both intra-bank and inter-bank), access to statements of accounts, checking the status of cheques, as well as the facility of communicating with bank personnel the world over via the Internet.

Incidentally, foreign banks are already in the fray with these services. Where ICICI Bank hopes to score over these banks is in the backup of its technological strengths with the human touch. For example, the banks policy is that it will respond immediately to E-mail queries --which, it claims-- is not exactly what all foreign banks are doing, at present.

 

The parent financial institution ICICI, in its new incarnation, is not going to be outdone, either. Reports are that paperwork at ICICI has been brought down to a minimum, with most of the organisations internal communication also being carried out through E-mail. On the one hand the E-mail and projector syndrome is helpful in saving time, and on the other it goes well with the new aggressive look that ICICI has adopted.
