Top 50 Shareholders In Key Crb Firms Same

The list of top 50 shareholders is almost identical in all key CRB firms according to data submitted by the Bombay Stock Exchange to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) yesterday.
The documents, which are based on the exchanges official records, were signed by CRB directors.
According to the data, a copy of which is available with Business Standard, the majority of CRB Capital Markets shareholders (98.2 per cent) hold small lots of shares (up to Rs 5,000 in value) aggregating 13.51 per cent of the total equity base. Just 286 high net worth parties hold as much as 84.81 per cent of the share equity.

While corporates account for 74.1 per cent of the share holding, banks account for 3.5 per cent, mutual funds another 3.07 per cent and directors and their relatives 0.81 per cent. In the case of CRB Share Custodian Services, the shareholding pattern shows corporate and mutual funds holding 90.62 per cent of the share capital. In this case, the mutual fund holding a large chunk of shares was CRB Trustee Ltd of the CRB Mutual Fund.
Interestingly, the list of top 50 holders is almost identical in the case of the key CRB group companies.
In the case of CRB Corporation, the shareholding pattern of the 4,95,50,450 shares issued reveals then majority of shareholders 92.77 per cent contribute only 5.80 per cent through small holdings of a value of up to Rs 5,000.
Non-resident Indians (NRIs) have contributed 0.52 per cent of the equity, nationalised and scheduled banks hold 6.39 per cent of the equity, mutual funds another 4.99 per cent and directors 2.90 per cent in CRB Corp share capital.
The exchange brass will shortly provide data to the Mumbai police pertaining to the CRB group directors, particularly the addresses and occupation of the directors.
The data has been furnished following the meeting which stock exchanges had with state government representatives, the Reserve Bank of India, Securities and Exchange Board of India, EOW to gain a momentum in the CRB fiasco.
The Bombay Stock Exchange is currently collating more data relating to the CRB group which it would provide to the investigating agencies in coming days.
