Traded Volumes Touch Rs 305.02 Crore

The debt segment at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) saw increased trading and the turnover was placed at Rs 305.02 crore yesterday.
Call rates opened in the range of 5.25 per cent to 5.5 per cent but came down to 4.75 per cent by the end of the day. Most of the deals were conducted at five per cent levels.

Treasury bills drew interest of Rs 89.32 crore of which the 364-day treasury bill maturing in February 1998 was exchanged for Rs 50 crore at 9.18 per cent yield. There was a decline in prices and the interest was more in the medium and short-term securities. The securities which saw activity were the 13.4 per cent government loan maturing in 1999 exchanged for Rs 20 crore at 11.88 per cent yield . The 12.69 per cent government loan maturing in 2002 saw trading of Rs 16 crore at a yield of 12.62 per cent. The announcement of the three-year paper caused a mild selling pressure in the market and the prices have reacted said a dealer with a private bank.
The 13.5 per cent institutional bond of ICICI maturing in 1998 deals for Rs 50 crore at 11.99 per cent . The certificate of deposit of State Bank of Hyderabad traded for Rs 20 crore at 10 per cent. Corporate debentures were dealt for Rs 73.07 lakhs yesterday.
