Up Cm To Holiday At Corbett Park

Sunita Aron THE HINDUSTAN TIMES

TAKING SOME time off from the burdensome job of running the State, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Ram Prakash Gupta has decided to go on a brief vacation with his family.

Mr Gupta has chosen the sedate ambience of the Corbett National Park near Nainital, the most popular holiday jaunt of VVIPs, as his destination.

The Chief Minister will leave behind knotty issues like Rajya Sabha elections for his colleagues to handle.

As for US President Clinton's visit to Agra, the Chief Minister has already left the entire arrangment to the State bureaucracy.

Mr Gupta will return to the State capital tomorrow evening. By then, the time to withdraw Rajya Sabha nominations will be over. Interestingly, Union Surface Minister Rajnath Singh may fly in from Delhi to evolve a consensus among the allies on one candidate as the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership admitted that the presence of just six candidates in the fray was in the interest of the ruling coalition, especially of the Bharatiya Janata Party which has fielded five candidates.

The Chief Minister will be staying at Dhikala, the most popular site to view animals.

The park has been spruced up. Forest Minister Rajdhari Singh has also decided to have a brief holiday in Corbett Park in the same period.

Officials hope that Mr Gupta, who, of late, has been wearing a tired look will return fresh from his holiday to receive President Bill Clinton in Agra and face the forthcoming budget session of the State legislature, which, on all accounts, is bound to be stormy.
