Two Karnataka-based Nationalised banks Vijaya and Syndicate Bank are set to have new chairman cum managing directors.
Manipal-based Syndicate Bank , still tottering under loss is slated to have K V Krishnamurthy as the new CMD. The present incumbent N.K.Tingalaya is vacating on expiry of his term soon.
Incidentally, Tingalaya who rose from the ranks was one of those few banking economists to head a bank. Krishnamurthy is currently executive director of Bank of Baroda and his appointment as CMD of Syndicate Bank has completed the process and is awaiting PMO approval.
Vijaya Bank chairmanship is expected to go to HP.Leeladhar, who is currently executive director of Bank of Maharashtra. According to banking sources , Leeladhar`s file has obtained all clearances and a formal announcement is expected any time. The current chairman K C Chaudhary is tipped to take-over as CMD of Central Bank of India as its chairman S.Doreswamy is retiring.
