Weiler International Electronics, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Digisound Electronics GmbH of Germany plans to inject $2 million to manufacture a wide range of acoustic components for the domestic and overseas markets. Weiler, which has its manufacturing base at Shirwal, near Pune, was earlier the electronics division of UB Engineering. The German firm took management control last year and bought the entire stake of UB Engineering, reportedly for a sum of $1.5 million. "The new investment plans include purchase of machinery required for the introduction of electronic components," said Florian Greiling, director of Weiler International Electronics. The company plans to introduce Piezo buzzers, beepers, multi-function warning sirens, burglar alarms, telephone ringers, miniature loudspeakers, xenon beacons. It has projected a turnover of Rs 20 crore (Rs 15 crore in 1996-97) in the current year and Rs 40 crore in 1998-99.
