World Bank Against Holding Company Status For Apseb

The World Bank does not favour holding company status for the Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board (Apseb) as part of the restructuring process of the Board.

The Bank apprehends that even as an apex institution, the Apseb would be under strong political pressure and the power sector will not be fully insulated from short-term policies.

The Hiten Bhaya Committee, set up by the N T Rama Rao state government on restructuring of the Apseb, had suggested holding company status for the Board after the major functions
