Intertek, a quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, on the occasion of World Environment Day announced that it is in the process of making all its operation across India completely paperless. Intertek has always been dedicated towards continuous improvement and embracing environmental friendly practices in its operations.
Taking pride in the moment Rajesh Saigal, Managing Director, Intertek South Asia said “Going paperless in testing, inspection and certification (TIC) industry is very challenging. Most of the entries for samples before testing, while testing and report generation is done on paper. Our reliance on printing everything resulted in the use and wastage of a lot of paper. We took a realistic look at our procedures and made a conscious decision to go paperless which would not only benefit the company but the environment as well. Now right from data entry to report generation and sharing, everything is done electronically. Because of which we are able to save over 300 reams of paper every month.”
Manish Kumar, regional director of Intertek’s Softlines, South Asia, added, “This initiative was very well embraced by our employees, partners and clients. Going paperless has made our operations more efficient, faster and cost effective. We initially started out with the Mumbai laboratory and because of its success, we are now extending this to all our other facilities in the country. As an organisation, it is important that we are socially aware and ensure that our business is in no way contributing adversely to the environment or the society. This initiative is the first step towards going green.”
