AirTel crosses new milestone, customer base at 5 lakh

Bharti Cellular Limited, a leading cellular service provider under the brand name AirTel, today crossed the half-a-million customer base in the AP circle.

AirTel in Andhra Pradesh added one lakh customers in just over 100 days to achieve this milestone. AirTel leads cellular operator in the country, with a combined base of more than 5 million mobile customers.

According to K Srinivas, the chief operating officer of Bharti Mobile Limited, Andhra Pradesh, "a customer base of more than 5 lakh has put us on a new high. Our customers drive our leadership position. This is clearly an indicator that we must constantly enhance the value proposition and continue to be the first choice for all mobile customers in AP.

AirTel has consistently led the cellular market through innovative packages and value-added services.

The pre-paid option Magic is today India's largest selling pre-paid card and the only pre-paid card with enhanced voice mail service and all India incoming roaming, Srinivas said in a release.

AirTel now offers a wide array of convenience-enhancing services and introduced the revolutionary concept of AirTel relationship center (ARC), a one-stop shop in mobile telephony.

AirTel is the only service provider in the country to have won four consecutive Techies awards "� Golden Peacock National Quality Award 2000 and Golden Peacock National Training Award for the year 1999. It is also the first telecom company in the world to get ISO 9001:2000, Srinivas added.
