Birlasoft to set up Rs 12-cr centre in Hyd by '06

Birlasoft Limited, the global technology services division of the CK Birla Group, will be setting up a 600-seat development centre in Hyderabad by February 2006. The company plans to invest around Rs 12 crore in the proposed centre.
 
Speaking to Business Standard, N K Subramaniyam, senior vice-president (financial services group), Birlasoft, said, "We will be setting up a development centre in Hyderabad by February 2006 at an approximate investment of Rs 12 crore. Around 600 people will be employed at the Hyderabad centre, which will basically focus on the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sectors."
 
Birlasoft's existing centres in India include the ones in Noida, Chennai and Bangalore. It has development centres in the US and Australia as well. The company employs more than 2,000 employees across its development centres. While the two centres at Noida employ around 1,100 people, the Chennai and Bangalore centres employ around 600 people each.
 
Birlasoft provides applications development and support services in e-commerce, data warehousing, legacy systems, customer relationship management, quality assurance, remote infrastructure management service and enterprise resource planning. It has a strategic equity participation with GE Capital.
 
The company, according to Subramaniyam, ended the last year with revenues of "close to $100 million, and is expecting to end the current year with around $110 million."
