HCL Technologies today announced the opening of an offshore development centre in Chennai with Konica Minolta Group (KM) to provide software services for KM's multi function peripherals (MFPs), printers and medical equipment business lines.

According to a release issued by HCL Tech to the BSE today, the contract is for three years, and extendable thereafter every year in which five business companies of KM will outsource product engineering work to the company.

Selvatharasu Sadagoparamanujam, president and representative director, HCL Japan (a wholly-owned subsidiary of HCL Technologies) said: "Japan is the next market that HCL is looking on to sign big partnerships such as our agreement with Konica Minolta. HCL expects around $30 million worth of business in three years through this deal. The partnership with KM is a perfect fit in our life sciences (equipment) strategy, and will boost our new micro-vertical for printers and MFPs."

In a separate release issued by HCL Technologies to the BSE, the company said it has entered into an IT co-sourcing agreement with CMS Cameron McKenna LLP over its integrated IT services covering IT infrastructure management and application development.

Towards the end of last year, CMS Cameron McKenna announced that it was looking at IT co-sourcing as part of an evaluation to identify improvements to internal IT services and manage costs in a highly competitive environment. A review of tenders from several IT suppliers was undertaken, leading to the selection of HCL Tech.

The co-sourcing agreement will see IT services delivered by a combination of a team of CMS Cameron McKenna staff in the firm
