| Reliance Communications chairman Anil Ambani today met Finance Minister P Chidambaram and senior DoT officials, even as his company started examining the books of Hutchison Essar for a possible bid. Ambani met Chidambaram in the national capital presumably to discuss issues related to his company's intended bid to acquire Hutch Essar. He, however, did not address the media after the meeting. The Reliance Communications chief also met DoT secretary D S Mathur, sources said, adding he is also likely to meet Communications Minister Dayanidhi Maran later in the day. Ambani's meeting comes just a day after Vodafone's CEO Arun Sarin and Essar chairman Shashi Ruia met Chidambaram yesterday. Meanwhile, Reliance Communications also started due diligence of Hutchison Essar in Mumbai. Vodafone had early this week initiated the process, while Essar's bankers also began studying HEL's books yesterday. |
