IBM has announced the launch of 12 IBM Rational version 7.0 suite softwares that automate software development process.

"Our mission is to give automated tools to organisations for system process and software development. The version 7 is much more sophisticated in software delivery management and it provides flexible and integrated test management system across the distributed team," Steve Robinson, VP of IBM (worldwide) sales, Rational Software, Software Group, said.

The new IBM Rational Software Development Platform products enable innovation by automating the software testing process and tracking changes made to software code. "This results in better collaboration between the development, production and test teams and break down the silos for improved delivery times, lowered costs and greater software quality," Robinson said.

According to IDC, the software application development and lifecycle tools market in India was estimated to be about $61 million in 2005 and IBM leads the market with a 40% marketshare.

India, home to a whopping 700,000 software developers, is a big market for the company. Software export from India is growing at a CAGR of 27% every year and this is a good market to be in," Sunil Kinger, country manager of IBM India Rational Software, said.

The new version of products governed the complete process of software development and could also be tailored to suit customers' requirement, Kinger said.

IBM had acquired Rational Software in February 2003.
