Mobile phone manufacturer, Motorola Mobility, is gearing up to roll out its 'Moto Care on Wheels' initiative in eight to 10 more cities in the country, according to its India general manager Amit Boni.
Under the Moto Care on Wheels project, Moto vans will be deployed manned by qualified personnel, who will provide free mobile phone repair services at customers' doorsteps for up to 30 days after purchase. The project is being piloted in New Delhi where the company saw 96 percent satisfaction levels, he told mediapersons here on Tuesday.
Stating that the company had sold three million handsets in India in the last 10 months, Boni said Motorola was revisiting plans to revive its mobile handset manufacturing facility located at Sriperumbudur near Chennai. It had suspended operations at the Chennai plant effective March 2013.
“We are in internal discussions ... on how the economics will work for us and on how it will benefit the end consumers,” Boni said, while refusing to comment further.
