Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL) has procured a fleet of Reva cars, for carrying out maintainence of its telecom network.
The first batch of Reva cars was flagged off by S P Pachauri, director, human resources, MTNL board, at a function today.
"We are committed towards saving the environment from the irreversible effects of harmful vehicular emissions," said Pachauri.
The initiative will help in saving transport costs, according to S M Talwar, executive director, MTNL. "The running cost of Reva car is 40 paise/Km compared to Rs 2.50/KM for a small diesel car," said Talwar.
MTNL has a fleet of 8 cars and it plans to increase the number to 40 by the end of next year.
