Hotel and restaurant operations in the city are likely to be affected starting March 10, following a sudden and total halt in the supply of commercial gas cylinders, the Bangalore Hotels Association said on Monday.
This development comes amid rising energy costs and supply constraints caused by the West Asia conflict.
"Since the gas supply has stopped, the hotels will be closed from tomorrow," the association said in a release.
Noting that the supply of commercial gas cylinders stopped today, it said, since the hotel industry is an essential service, common people, students, and medical professionals, who rely on the hotels for daily meals, will be affected.
"In addition, our hotel industry will also face difficulties until the gas supply returns to normal," it added.
The association said oil companies had guaranteed an uninterrupted gas supply for 70 days, making the sudden stoppage a "big blow" to the hotel industry.

There is a need to relax criteria for India's PLI scheme for automobiles to enable electric vehicle start-ups to benefit and contribute to the country's green mobility journey, according to Euler Motors Founder & CEO Saurav Kumar.
The high ceiling for revenue and investments outlined in the PLI for the auto sector has meant that a company like Euler Motors, despite being among the top players in the electric small trucks and three-wheeler cargo segment, has not been able to participate in the scheme, Kumar told PTI in an interview.
As per the eligibility criteria of the auto PLI scheme, an OEM must have a minimum global group revenue of Rs 10,000 crore and invest in fixed assets worth Rs 3,000 crore.

About 72 crore Basic Savings Bank Deposit Accounts (BSBDA), including those under the PM Jan Dhan scheme, are not subject to any penal charges for non-maintenance of minimum balance, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Monday.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, she said banks offer zero-balance savings accounts facility in Basic Savings Bank Deposit Accounts (BSBDAs), including the accounts opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), to ensure universal access to banking facilities, particularly for unbanked, vulnerable and small depositors, and to promote financial inclusion.
These accounts do not require maintenance of any minimum balance, and the account holders are provided basic banking services such as deposits, withdrawals and ATM access free of charge, without levy of any penal charges.
"Approximately 72 crore BSBDAs, including PMJDY accounts, are not subject to any penal charges for non-maintenance of minimum balance," Sitharaman said.
