NHPC secures shareholders nod to hike borrowing limit to Rs 50,000 cr

State-owned NHPC has received shareholders nod to raise its borrowing limit to Rs 50,000 crore in its annual general meeting held on Wednesday. "All resolutions set out in the notice of 48th AGM were duly approved by shareholders with requisite majority," the company said in a regulatory filing. The proposal to increase the borrowing limit from Rs 40,000 crore to Rs 50,000 crore got the 99.99 per cent votes, the filing said. The tentative debt requirement for both ongoing projects and new projects up to FY 2032-33 as per CAPEX requirements will be approx Rs 80,000 crore, which will exceed paid-up share capital, free reserves and securities premium of the company, it said.

NHPC Q1FY25 results: Net profit rises marginally by 1% to Rs 1,108 cr

State-owned hydro power giant on Wednesday reported a marginal rise in its consolidated net profit of over one per cent to Rs 1,108.46 crore in June 2024 quarter. The company had reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,095.38 crore in the quarter ended on June 30, 2023, a BSE filing showed. Total income has increased to Rs 3,037.92 crore in the quarter from Rs 3,010.22 crore in the same period a year ago. The board also approved monetisation of future cash flow (return on equity) in respect of Dulhasti Power Station or any other power station(s) of the company for 8/10 years in single tranche during financial year 2024-25. In a separate filing, it informed that the power ministry has appointed Raj Kumar Chaudhary, Director (Technical), NHPC, to the post of Chairman and Managing Director, NHPC Limited. The appointment is effective from August 7 till the date of his superannuation i.e. June 30, 2025, or until further orders. The company further said that consequent to the above,

Jakson Green inks pact with NHPC for supply of 400 MW solar power

New energy transition platform Jakson Green on Wednesday said it has inked a pact with state-owned NHPC for the supply of 400 MW solar power. Jakson Green has signed its first Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NHPC Ltd, a company statement said. This agreement marks a significant milestone for Jakson Green, solidifying its position as a fast-growing Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a total portfolio of 1 GW under development, the statement added. "We are thrilled to embark on this agreement with NHPC, the first of many more to come. This 400 MW PPA, our largest to date, with NHPC is a monumental achievement for Jakson Green," Kannan Krishnan, Joint Managing Director, Jakson Green Pvt Ltd said. NHPC Q4 results: Net profit declines 18% to Rs 611 crore, revenue falls

State-owned NHPC Ltd on Friday reported an 18 per cent fall in consolidated net profit to Rs 610.93 crore during the March quarter on account of decline in revenues. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 745.27 crore in the year-ago period, the company said in an exchange filing. The company's revenue from operations reduced to Rs 1,888.14 crore from Rs 2,028.77 crore in the January-March period of the 2022-23 fiscal. NHPC's expenses were at Rs 1,393.67 crore from Rs 1,545.48 crore a year ago. For the entire fiscal, the company's net profit was at Rs 4,028.01 crore as against Rs 4,260.83 crore a year earlier. The board of the company also approved a final dividend of Rs 10 per equity share for FY24.

NHPC inks agreement with Japan's JBIC for around Rs 1,100 crore loan

State-owned hydropower giant NHPC on Thursday said it has inked a loan agreement of JPY 20 billion (around Rs 1,100 crore) with Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) for developing a 300 MW solar project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. This is the first kind of loan syndication by NHPC with JBIC for the financing of renewable energy project, a company statement said. According to the statement, JBIC's loan is co-financed with MUFG Bank Ltd., Japan and Bank of Yokohama Ltd, Japan. NHPC has secured a foreign currency loan of JPY 20 billion from JBIC for the implementation of renewable projects, including a 300 MW solar power project, Bikaner, it stated. The loan agreement was signed by the senior officials of NHPC and JBIC. The facility is extended under JBIC's GREEN Operations (Global Action for Reconciling Economic Growth and Environment Preservation), which ensures the preservation of the global environment.

NHPC board approves proposal for raising Rs 6,100 cr funds through NCDs

State-owned NHPC on Wednesday said its board has approved a proposal to raise Rs 6,100 crore in debt in 2024-25. The Board of Directors of NHPC in its meeting held on Wednesday considered and approved the proposal for raising of debt up to Rs 6,100 crore during 2024-25 through non-convertible Corporate Bonds in one or more tranches on private placement basis, term loans or external commercial borrowing in tranches, a BSE filing said. Further, the Board of Directors in the meeting has also given its in-principle approval for closure of Loktak Downstream Hydroelectric Corporation Limited (a Subsidiary Company of NHPC Limited and Joint Venture with Govt. of Manipur), subject to the approval of DIPAM, Ministry of Power and Govt. of Manipur, it stated.

NHPC bags 200 MW solar project in Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat

State-run hydro power giant NHPC has bagged a 200 MW solar project which will be set up at Gujarat State Electricity Corporation's 1,125 MW renewable energy park at Khavda, in Gujarat. The e-reverse auction for the project was conducted by GUVNL (Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam) on March 2, 2024 and the Letter of Intent was issued on March 14, 2024, a company statement said. The project was secured at a tariff of Rs 2.66 per unit and will be completed in a period of 18 months. The project will generate about 473 million units in the first year of commissioning and the cumulative generation from the project over a period of 25 years would be about 10,850 million units. The NHPC will develop the project on a build-own-and-operate basis at a tentative development cost of about Rs 847 crore.
