Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 5: Details
The Momentum True Wireless 5 carry a fin-less design and the company said that the ergonomics are based on data from thousands of ear models. Sennheiser says 73 per cent of testers rated the new fit as more comfortable than the previous generation. The earbuds also have an IP54 rating for protection against dust, sweat and splashes.
The company has retained its 7mm TrueResponse dynamic transducer. The earbuds support Bluetooth 6.0 and aptX Adaptive codec, with high-resolution audio support of up to 24-bit/96kHz. Powered by the Snapdragon sound platform, they also support aptX Lossless on compatible devices.
The earbuds also support Dolby Atmos with head tracking. This is designed to create a more immersive spatial audio experience, with the sound field responding as the listener moves their head.

Sennheiser has also updated the adaptive hybrid active noise cancellation system and automatic anti-wind mode designed to reduce the impact of wind on noise cancellation.
The earbuds use four microphones for the ANC system and transparency mode. For calls, the company has added six microphones and two bone-conduction voice accelerometers. These sensors work with an AI-based speech-extraction system designed to separate the user's voice from background noise.
The Momentum True Wireless 5 supports Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair and multipoint connectivity.
Sennheiser has also included a selectable robust mode for situations where there is a lot of wireless interference, such as crowded public spaces. The earbuds work with the company's Smart Control Plus app. It includes an eight-band equaliser and Sound Personalisation features, allowing users to adjust the sound to their preferences.
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 5: Replaceable battery and battery life
The major change in the Momentum True Wireless 5 is the battery system. Sennheiser has designed both the earbuds and the charging case with user-replaceable batteries. The company says users can refresh the power cells in a few minutes using a compact screwdriver.
The replaceable battery also extends to the charging case. This means users can replace the power cell in the case as well, rather than having its battery become a limiting factor after years of use.
Battery life has also been increased compared with the previous generation. Sennheiser said that the Momentum True Wireless 5 can deliver up to 12 hours of continuous playback on a single charge.
The wireless charging case is said to provide more than two additional charges, taking total listening time to up to 40 hours. The case supports Qi wireless charging. There is also a quick-charge feature that provides up to one hour of listening from an eight-minute charge.
Availability
Sennheiser has priced the Momentum True Wireless 5 at $299.95 in the US. The earbuds will begin shipping from September 3 through Sennheiser's website and select retailers in markets where they are being launched. The earbuds will be offered in five metallic finishes: Graphite, Cream, Copper, Denim and Lavender.
The company has not announced India pricing or availability details for the region.
