The Bombay High Court has permitted the Adani group to cut 209 mangroves for the construction of a high voltage transmission line proposed to increase electricity supply in the city and suburbs, noting it was a project of public importance. The Competition Commission of India on Tuesday approved Adani Group's arm Renew Exim DMCC's proposal to acquire a majority stake in ITD Cementation India for about Rs 5,757 crore. ITD Cementation India Ltd is an engineering and construction company undertaking heavy civil, infrastructure and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) business and operating in India and overseas. "The proposed combination involves the acquisition by Renew Exim DMCC (acquirer) of approximately 46.64 per cent equivalent to 8,01,13,180 shares of the total issued and voting equity share capital of the ITD Cementation India Ltd (target)," the Competition Commission of India (CCI) said in a release. "We would want it to be below 6 cents US," government spokesman Nalinda Jayathissa told reporters here. The previous government's decision to sign a 20-year power purchase agreement for the 484MW wind plants at 8.2 cents US was disputed as local bidders had offered lower unit prices. Jayathissa's NPP had earlier vowed to annul the Adani green energy project. The new government in December decided not to sign an agreement at the purchase prices agreed by the previous government in 2023. The government refuted news reports that the Adani Green Energy projects in the northeastern regions of Mannar and Pooneryn projects are to be cancelled. Adani Wilmar on Monday posted over twofold jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 410.93 crore for December quarter 2024-25 on strong edible oil sales. The company had logged a net profit of Rs 200.89 crore in the year-ago period. Total income rose to Rs 16,926 crore during the quarter from Rs 12,887.21 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year, according to a regulatory filing. Revenue from edible oil segment increased to Rs 13,386.71 crore from Rs 9,710.82 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue from 'food and FMCG' segment rose to Rs 1,558 crore from Rs 1,273 crore, while revenue from 'industry essentials' increased to Rs 1,914.59 crore from Rs 1,844.12 crore. Edible oil firm Adani Wilmar Ltd has commenced operation of its food processing plant at Sonepat, Haryana, which it has established with an investment of nearly Rs 1,300 crore. In a regulatory filing on Thursday, Adani Wilmar said the company has commenced operations at its integrated food processing plant in Gohana, District Sonepat. "This food complex is one of the largest in the country built with a capital outlay of Rs 1,298 crore coming from IPO proceeds," the company said. The plant will help generate 2,000 direct and indirect employment in Haryana. The facility spread across 85 acres, has a total annual production capacity of 6.27 lakh tonnes.
