Andhra okays ₹856-cr plan for India's largest printed circuit board plant

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved a Rs 856 crore incentive package for India's largest printed circuit board plant being set up by electronics manufacturing company (EMS) Syrma SGS. The package was cleared by the state cabinet headed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday, officials said. Syrma SGS will set up India's largest printed circuit board (PCB) plant at an investment of Rs 1,595 crore. The project is being done in partnership with Korea's Shinhyup Electronics. Syrma SGS had submitted a proposal to set up a PCB manufacturing facility in partnership with Shinhyup Electronics Ltd on a 51:49 equity shareholding basis. For the project, the state government will provide 12.56 acres of land at 75 per cent subsidised cost. The project will be located at the Naidupeta industrial area, which is in close proximity to Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The project will be commissioned by October 2026 and is expected to add Rs 6,200 crore to the topline of Syrma SGS in FY2027.

Dharan Infra EPC receives ₹1,171 crore contracts in Andhra Pradesh

Dharan Infra EPC on Monday said it has secured new work orders of Rs 1,171.21 in Andhra Pradesh. The EPC orders have been awarded by Skymax Infra Power, the company said in a statement. "Dharan Infra EPC either directly or through its designated subsidiaries, has received work contracts of an aggregate value of approximately Rs 1,171.21 crore from Skymax Infra Power," it said. The contracts awarded by Skymax Infra Power relate to EPC works and supply and installation at Orvakal Industrial Park in Andhra Pradesh. Execution timelines are scheduled up to March 31, 2027, the company, which specialises in large-scale infrastructure and energy projects, added. A significant portion of the contract scope -- approximately 80 per cent of the total value -- relates to international procurement of plant and machinery, which will be undertaken through the company's subsidiary entities, Dharan Infra EPC (formerly KBC Global Limited) said.

IBM to launch quantum computer in AP by March 2026, urges app research

Global tech giant IBM is aiming to open its quantum computer in Andhra Pradesh's Amaravati by March next year, a senior company official has said. India has "strong energy" from an education and skilling perspective in the relatively newer quantum computing space, but needs to focus more on the application research side as the future winners can emerge from this front, the official has said. Scott Crowder, vice-president for quantum adoption at the company, said the company has partnered with India's largest IT services exporter TCS to install the 'IBM Quantum System Two' and the same is projected to be ready by end of first quarter of 2026. AP commerce body urges Centre to protect shrimp sector from US tariffs

Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation on Thursday appealed to the Centre to protect shrimp farmers and exporters with policy and financial interventions in the face of 50 percent tariffs and other taxes slapped by the US on Indian imports. The president of the chambers, P Bhaskar Rao, said the sudden spike in US tariffs has put the livelihood of 2.8 crore people who engage in aquaculture and allied sectors at risk. "Unless urgent policy and financial interventions are made, India risks losing global competitiveness in seafood exports. We strongly urge the Union government to act swiftly in coordination with the state governments to safeguard this vital sector," said Rao in a press release. Andhra's revenue deficit breaches 110% of budget estimate in first 4 months

Andhra Pradesh's revenue deficit crossed 110 per cent of the budget estimate, by reaching Rs 36,741 crore in the first four months of the current fiscal, against the projected deficit of Rs 33,186 crore for the entire year, indicating that the state will have to rely heavily on borrowings or Central government assistance .
