LS polls: PM Modi to address first rally in Andhra along with Chandrababu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Sunday evening address a grand National Democratic Alliance rally 'Prajagalam,' (the voice of the public) in Palnadu district, the first joint public meeting of NDA partners in Andhra Pradesh after ten years. Modi will be joined by TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu and Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan in the public meeting, and this is the first time all the three leaders will share the stage in a rally for the 2024 polls. Named Prajagalam, the meeting will mark the first NDA election meeting in Andhra Pradesh in the run-up to the simultaneous Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha polls scheduled on May 13. Janasena said Prajagalam is aimed at "chasing away atrocious politics" for the golden future of Andhra Pradesh. The TDP, Janasena and BJP are mobilising their cadres in large numbers for the meeting. Number of voters in Andhra Pradesh rises to 40.9 mn from 40.7 mn: EC data

The total number of voters in Andhra Pradesh as of March 16 is 4.09 crore, an increase from 4.07 crore recorded on January 22, state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena said on Saturday. The total voters include two crore men, 2.08 crore women and 3,346 of the third-gender, he said at a press conference here, on a day the Election Commission announced the Lok Sabha polls. Andhra Pradesh will witness simultaneous legislative assembly and general elections on May 13. He said data on polling stations in the state will be sent to the commission. Currently, there are 46,165 polling stations in Andhra Pradesh, Meena said. The CEO said that 179 women-managed and 50 youth election officers-managed polling stations have been proposed to be set up. Some will be managed by specially-abled personnel, he said. Andhra Assembly polls: Stage set for poll battle between YSRCP, TDP

With the EC on Saturday announcing the poll schedule for the Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh on May 13, the poll bugle has been sounded in the southern state for a double battle. With an electorate of 4.08 crore voters--two crore male, 2.07 crore female and 3,482 third gender voters, Andhra Pradesh is poised to elect members to its 16th Legislative Assembly, constituting 175 constituencies, besides 25 Lok Sabha members. Aurobindo Pharma to start production of Pen-G at its Andhra plant in Q1FY25

Aurobindo Pharma expects its Rs 2,400 crore Pen-G (penicillin) plant in Andhra Pradesh to start trial production in April and commercial production in a couple of months and ramping up of production will happen during the second quarter of next fiscal, a senior official of the city-based drug maker has said. Santhanam Subramanian, Chief Financial Officer of Aurobindo Pharma, also said the company is constructing a total of 10 new facilities which are expected to capitalise in the next one to two years. Currently, the firm has a total of 25 manufacturing and packaging facilities at various locations. BJP, TDP, Jana Sena will form alliance for upcoming LS, Andhra polls: Naidu

The BJP, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Jana Sena Party have come to an understanding for stitching up an alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Andhra Pradesh Assembly polls, former chief minister of the southern state N Chandrababu Naidu said on Saturday. "Andhra Pradesh has been destroyed badly. AG&P Pratham reduces its CNG price by Rs 2.5 per kg in Kerala, Andhra

AG&P Pratham, one of the leading city gas distribution players in the country, has announced a price cut of Rs 2.5 per kilogram in the compressed natural gas sold at its outlets in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. The price cut took effect from March 7, the company said in a release. With the reduction of Rs 2.5 per kg, the price of CNG sold at the company outlets in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha and Kollam is Rs 85.50, the release has said. In Andhra Pradesh, the reduction is the same, but the prices would vary between Rs 90.50 and Rs 91.50, the company has said. The change in pricing "aims to enhance savings of CNG vehicle owners substantially and facilitate the widespread use of natural gas in the transportation segment", it has further said. Senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP K Ravindra Kumar claimed on Friday that the BJP, the Jana Sena and his party have decided in principle to work together for upcoming polls and the modalities are being worked out. Election Commission aiming for more than 83% polling in Andhra Pradesh

The Election Commission is working towards ensuring more than 83 percent polling in the forthcoming general elections in Andhra Pradesh, said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena on Wednesday. As part of this goal, the CEO noted that several programmes are being undertaken to educate voters on the importance of exercising their franchise. "During 2019 polls, the state recorded an average polling percentage of 79.77 while the national average was 69 percent," said Meena in a press release. Meanwhile, an Election Commission team from New Delhi arrived to evaluate Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programmes in Andhra Pradesh. NTPC arm NGEL partners with Andhra govt to develop green hydrogen hub

NTPC arm NGEL has signed an agreement with the government of Andhra Pradesh for the development of an integrated green hydrogen hub. The land lease agreement was signed between NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) for the said project near Pudimadaka village of Atchutapuram Mandal in Visakhapatnam district, NTPC said in a statement on Tuesday. "The Pudimadaka Green Hydrogen Hub aims to create a world-class ecosystem for technologies in the new energy paradigm, such as electrolyser and fuel cell manufacturing, related ancillary industries, startup, incubation, testing facilities, production and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives (green ammonia/green methanol etc.)," the statement said.
