The Congress on Tuesday took a swipe at TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, saying he quit the NDA in 2018 due to the Centre's failure to grant special category status to Andhra Pradesh and six years later when the government is reliant on his MPs, all he has managed to get is a "special financial support" for Amaravati. The government on Tuesday announced a series of measures for Andhra Pradesh, including arranging Rs 15,000 crore this fiscal and in future years for the development of the capital city of the state. Jagan writes to PM Modi over alleged atrocities against YSRCP cadres

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and opposition YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, complaining about the alleged atrocities against his party cadres by the ruling TDP and its allies. In just one month, Reddy alleged that 31 people were murdered, 35 people committed suicide, 560 private and 490 government properties were destroyed and 2,700 people were forced to flee their villages. "Additionally, there have been over 1,050 incidents of violence and attacks. This reflects the state of affairs in our state under the present dispensation, which is not at all inclined to maintain law and order," Reddy said in the letter, shared in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. Andhra police book ex-CM Jagan, 2 IPS officers in 'attempt to murder' case

Andhra Pradesh police registered an "attempt to murder" case against former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, two senior IPS officers and two retired officials, following a complaint lodged by a TDP MLA, an official said on Friday. The complaint was lodged by the ruling party's Undi MLA K Raghurama Krishna Raju, who was a YSRCP Lok Sabha MP between 2019 and 2024 but had a fallout with Reddy at an early stage. Besides Reddy, police booked senior IPS officers PV Sunil Kumar and PSR Sitaramanjaneyulu and retired police officer R Vijay Paul and former Guntur Government General Hospital superintendent G Prabhavati, the official said. BPCL ready to invest Rs 1 trn in Andhra Pradesh: Industries minister Bharat

Andhra Pradesh Industries Minister TG Bharat on Wednesday said Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) is ready to invest Rs 1 lakh crore in the state, which could include the setting up of an oil refinery. The Industries Minister accompanied a BPCL delegation led by its chairman and managing director G Krishna Kumar to meet Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the Secretariat in Amaravati on Wednesday. According to Bharat, BPCL officials told Naidu that the company is ready to invest massively in the state and discussed primarily about setting up an oil refinery. "BPCL is ready to invest Rs 1 lakh crore in the state. Initially, it will invest between Rs 50,000 crore and Rs 75,000 crore," said Bharat in an official press release. IMD predicts thunderstorms for parts of Andhra Pradesh for five days

The India Meteorological Department on Sunday predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in parts of Andhra Pradesh from July 7 to 11. Thunderstorms are expected in parts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema. "The cyclonic circulation over the west central Bay of Bengal off the south Andhra Pradesh coast persists and is now seen at 5.8 km above mean sea level," said the Met Department in a press release. Specifically on Sunday, the department forecast the possibility of heavy rain in parts of NCAP and Yanam. Strong winds up to the speed of 40 km per hour (kmph) have been predicted in the rain-affected places for two days from Sunday.
