CM Jagan Reddy likely to meet PM Modi, HM Shah during Delhi visit today

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday during his Delhi visit to flag pending issues concerning the state, sources said. Reddy is also expected to meet Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during his visit, they said. "The Chief Minister will be meeting the PM and HM to press for the unresolved and pending issues related to the state," the sources said. Leader of Opposition and Telugu Desam Party supremo N Chandrababu had also met Amit Shah and Nadda last month. However there was no official word and outcome of the meeting.

Andhra govt sells tomatoes at Rs 50/kg through Rythu Bazars as price rises

The Andhra Pradesh government on Saturday said its agriculture marketing department is selling tomatoes at Rs 50 per kg at 103 Rythu Bazars located across the state to provide relief to consumers. "In response to the soaring prices of tomatoes, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has taken proactive steps to make this essential vegetable accessible and affordable for its citizens," the state government said in a statement. With prices reaching an alarming price of Rs 100 per kg, the Agricultural Marketing Department has initiated the sale of tomatoes at Rs 50 per kg in 103 Rythu Bazars across the state. Kin of AP blast victims seek compensation from pharmaceutical company

Relatives of two persons who died in an explosion at a pharma company in Anakapalli district are demanding compensation from the employer. The duo succumbed to chemical burns they suffered in the blast at Sahiti Pharma company, while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Visakhapatnam on Friday evening. "Around 30 relatives of the deceased persons are at the company now. They are demanding compensation from the company side," a police official said on Saturday. The government has announced ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh lakh each for the deceased persons. Meanwhile, four injured persons were shifted from KGH Hospital to Indus Hospital for better treatment, said Anakapalli district superintendent of police K. V. Andhra suffers 37% deficit rainfall in June, logs 59.2 mm: Met dept

Andhra Pradesh suffered 37 per cent deficit rainfall in June, logging just 59.2 mm rainfall on average across the state against the normal range of 94.1 mm, the Met department said on Friday. Except four districts, Konaseema, Krishna, Chittoor and Sri Satya Sai, all the other districts registered deficit rainfall. Under the coastal AP meteorological sub-division, Konaseema district witnessed 21 per cent more rainfall at 165.8 mm against the normal of 137.3 mm, according to a data shared by the Met department. Likewise, Krishna district registered just 2 per cent surplus rainfall at 125.9 mm compared to the normal range of 123.1 mm. Chittoor and Sri Satya Sai districts recorded excess rainfall of 20 per cent and 11 per cent respectively. Among the worst affected districts, East Godavari suffered an 80 per cent deficit with just 25.8 mm rainfall against the normal of 125.9 mm for the month of June. Ensure 240 mn man-days under MGNREGS in 2023: AP CM Reddy to officials

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday directed officials to ensure that at least 24 crore man-days are offered in 2023 under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). He issued these guidelines during a review meeting with the district Collectors and Superintendents of Police on a bunch of schemes. "Out of these (24 crore man-days), 60 per cent or 14.4 crore man-days should be completed by June end. At least 75,000 man- days should be provided every day in each district," said the Chief Minister in a press note shared by the state government today. Only on achieving these numbers, Reddy said the southern state will fulfil the targets it has set, including offering a minimum of Rs 272 as daily wages. AP CM distributes free education kits to students worth Rs 1,043 crore

As schools reopened for the 2023-2024 academic year on Monday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy distributed free kits to more than 43 lakh students under the 'Jagananna Vidya Kanuka' scheme in Palnadu district. Each kit, which will be distributed to students belonging to all government and aided schools, will contain bilingual textbooks, notebooks, workbooks, three pairs of uniforms, one pair of shoes, two pairs of socks, belt, school bag, English-Telugu dictionary (sixth to 10th standards) and a pictorial dictionary (first to fifth standards). Shah tears into YSRCP in Andhra; says it has done nothing but corruption

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday tore into the YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh, saying it did only corruption and slammed it over the alleged farmer suicides in the state. Andhra Pradesh CM constitutes working group to transform school curriculum

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has constituted a high-level working group involving executives from top tech companies and senior officials to transform government school students into worldclass products equipped with modern technology.
