Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann gets married in a private ceremony in Chandigarh

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will get married at a private ceremony here on Thursday. Mann (48), will be tying the knot with Dr Gurpreet Kaur, who belongs to Pehowa in Haryana's Kurukshetra. It will be Mann's second marriage. He had separated from his first wife in 2015 and has two children -- daughter Seerat Kaur (21) and son Dilshan (17) -- from his first marriage. Tight security arrangements have been made at the residence of the chief minister here. Gurpreet Kaur (30), shared a picture of herself on Twitter and wrote, Din Shagna Da Chadya (the day of marriage has arrived). She also thanked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders for their congratulatory messages. According to the AAP, family members of Mann, including his mother and sister, and a few guests will attend the wedding, which will be solemnised according to Sikh rituals. Five AAP MLAs on Monday were inducted as ministers in the Punjab government as Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expanded his cabinet. It was the first cabinet expansion of the Mann-led government after AAP stormed to power in the state during the Assembly elections earlier this year. Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit administered the oath of office and secrecy to the MLAs at Guru Nanak Dev Auditorium of Punjab Raj Bhawan here on Monday evening. Barring two-time Sunam MLA Aman Arora, four others were the first-time legislators. Arora was the first one to take oath, followed by Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar, who is the MLA from Amritsar South seat. Later, Fauja Singh Sarari, who represents Guru Har Sahai, Chetan Singh Jourmajra, MLA from Samana, and Kharar legislator Anmol Gagan Mann were administered oath as cabinet ministers. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will expand his cabinet on July 4 as five MLAs are expected to be inducted as ministers, said party sources on Sunday. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Punjab Raj Bhawan at 5 pm on Monday, said an official here.
