Guar seed futures down on weak spot market

Guar seed prices came down by Rs 23 to Rs 4,289 per quintal in futures trade today as investors indulged in minimizing their holdings in tune with subdued physical markets sentiment. Marketmen said investors reduced their bets, tracking a weakening trend at spot markets on persistent arrivals from growing belts against withdrawal of support by guar gum makers, leading to fall in guar seed prices in futures trade. At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, guar seed delivery for October slipped by Rs 23 or 0.53 per cent to Rs 4,289 per quintal, having an open interest of 1,05,160 lots. Also, the contract for delivery in November eased by Rs 20.50 or 0.47 per cent to Rs 4,3454 per quintal, revealing an open interest of 14,830 lots.

Cisco to step up investments in India; to focus on 5G, entrepreneurship

US-based tech giant Cisco Friday said it is stepping up investments in the Indian market as part of the second phase of its 'Country Digital Acceleration' (CDA) programme that will focus on accelerating innovation and entrepreneurship, 5G use cases for citizen services as well as transportation modernisation. Speaking to PTI, Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins said India is among its few markets where the company has made a second round of investment as part of its CDA programme. "India is an important market for us. While we are not disclosing the amount we would be investing, it is clear that we are betting on India as a key market. We are adding four more states to our existing initiatives towards areas like innovation, smart cities. We have also signed agreements with Niti Aayog and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL)," he said. Cisco had committed an investment of USD 100 million in the first phase of CDA, where it has completed about 50 projects, including setting up 10 innovation labs, three .

Guar gum futures price drop 0.55 pc

Guar gum prices were down by 0.55 per cent to Rs 9,248 per quintal in futures trade Friday after participants cut down their holdings amid profit-booking. Marketmen said off-loading of holdings by participants at current levels amid subdued export demand for oil drilling industries, weighed on guar gum prices in futures trade here. Besides, ample stocks of guar seed on relentless supplies from growing belts against easing demand from guar gum makers in the spot markets too negatively impacted sentiments, they added. At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, guar gum for the most-active delivery in October contracts fell by Rs 51, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 9,248 per quintal, with an open interest of 52,090 lots. Guar gum for delivery in November contracts also quoted lower by Rs 41, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 9,367 per quintal with an open interest of 9,710 lots.
