"The DJB has not even cleared the drawings for the laying down of water and sewer pipelines till now, despite a request made by the DDA back in 2017," a source said. Thousands of slum-dwellers from the Bhoomiheen Camp, who were shifted to modern multi-storey flats in November last year, are facing a "water crisis". Delhi BJP demands FIR against Kejriwal in alleged scam of DJB funds

The Delhi BJP on Monday said an FIR should be registered against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the alleged Rs 20 crore scam in the Delhi Jal Board. Addressing a press conference here, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said the alleged scam was exposed in 2018 when Kejriwal was the chairman of the DJB. "I believe this is a much bigger scam of Rs 200 crore. Even after it was exposed in 2018, when Kejriwal was the DJB chairman, instead of taking any action, the commission of the accused was raised," the BJP leader said. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday filed a case in connection with the embezzlement of DJB funds worth Rs 20 crore. Bidhuri questioned why the Delhi chief minister did not take any action in the matter when the alleged scam was exposed. It is alleged that Rs 20 crore collected in water bills from consumers was not deposited in the bank accounts of the DJB by the accused. Delhi LG V K Saxena in September directed the chief secre

Incorrect to say poisonous chemical used to suppress Yamuna froth: AAP

Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Vice Chairman Saurabh Bhardwaj on Thursday said it is "absolutely incorrect" to say that a "poisonous" chemical is being used to suppress the foam in the Yamuna, following the BJP's allegations over the issue. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari accused the Delhi government on Thursday of spraying a poisonous chemical to remove froth from the Yamuna ahead of Chhath Puja, during which devotees take a holy dip in the river. Slamming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over its allegations into the DJB's Yamuna-cleaning exercise, Bhardwaj said, "BJP leaders should learn something about science and technology. The DJB's anti-foaming chemical technology has also been recommended by the Centre's NMCG." The DJB had started preparations to reduce foaming in the Yamuna more than a month ago so that Chhath devotees could offer prayers to the Sun god, he said. "Later, the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) also recommended similar steps as adopted by the DJB to contain foaming in the
