G20: Delhi Police to conduct full dress rehearsal, traffic likely to be hit

Traffic is likely to be hit on the weekend in the city as police will hold full dress rehearsals for the G20 Summit, escorting carcades from different parts of the national capital towards New Delhi district, an advisory said on Thursday. The Delhi Police has advised commuters to use metro service on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the timings of the rehearsal will be from 8.30 am to 12 pm, from 4.30 pm to 6 pm and 7 pm to 11 pm, the advisory said. During the carcade rehearsals, traffic will be restricted at Sardar Patel Marg-Panchsheel Marg, Sardar Patel MargKautilya Marg, Gol Methi roundabout, Mansingh Road roundabout, C-Hexagon, Mathura Road, Zakir Hussain Marg-Subramaniam Bharti Marg, Bhairon Marg-Ring Road, Satya Marg/Shantipath round about, JanpathKartavyapath, Barakhamba Road red light, Tolstoy Marg, and Vivekanand Marg etc, the advisory said. G20 Summit: Delhi Police to hold 'carcade' rehearsal on Aug 27

The Delhi Police will on Sunday hold a 'carcade' rehearsal from various points to Pragati Maidan ahead of the G20 Summit scheduled in the national capital next month. Traffic will be regulated at several places from 9 am to 12.30 pm to facilitate the rehearsals, the police said. The roads where traffic will be regulated are Sardar Patel Marg-Panchsheel Marg, Teen Murti Marg, Barakhamba Road traffic signal, Janpath-Kartavya Path, Vivekanand Marg, under the Lodhi Road flyover, Shanti Van Chowk, Joseph Tito Marg-Siri Fort Road, Press Enclave Road-Lal Bahadur Shashtri Marg, C-Hexagon, Mathura Road and Saleem Garh Bypass, they said. The police have asked commuters to plan their journeys accordingly. Commuters may experience congestion on these roads and junctions. Motorists are requested to have patience, observe traffic rules and road discipline and follow the directions of traffic police personnel deployed at all intersections, they added.

Delhi Police announces traffic advisory ahead of G20 summit in New Delhi

Lutyens' Delhi will be out of bounds for unauthorised persons for three days during the G20 summit next month, police officials said on Friday. An array of restrictions on movement of vehicular traffic have been announced in New Delhi district, areas around Rajghat and the regulated zone demarcated by the Ring Road, they said. Officials said the restrictions would be in place between 12 midnight on September 8 and 11.59 pm on September 10. However, movement of ambulances will be allowed and local residents of the area and tourists accommodated there will be permitted to move after presenting proper identification papers, they added. Delhi Police will track social media to prevent any rumour-mongering or inflammatory posts, identify and check criminal elements and focus on malls, markets and religious places in the city as part of security drills for the G20 summit, officials said on Thursday. 450 Delhi police quick response teams part of security arrangements for G20

Elaborate security arrangements will be put in place across Delhi for the G20 Summit with the deployment of more than 450 quick response teams of police as well as disaster management units at the summit venue, designated hotels and routes to be taken by dignitaries, officials said on Wednesday. Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena is leading the charge of tackling emergency situations during the summit to be held at Pragati Maidan on September 8-10, a Raj Niwas official said. The Delhi Police has made elaborate security plans with the deployment of more than 450 quick response teams and PCR vans, over 50 ambulances and fire-fighting machinery in and around the airport, 23 designated hotels, Pragati Maidan, Rajghat and along the routes to be taken by the dignitaries and delegates, they said. The Delhi Police on Wednesday held a carcade rehearsal from various points to Pragati Maidan ahead of the G20 summit scheduled in the national capital next month. The police had asked commuters to plan their journey accordingly as they said certain roads would remain affected till 11 am on Wednesday. "Due to carcade rehearsal and special traffic arrangements, some congestion is expected on Salimgarh Bypass, Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Bhairon Marg, Mathura Road, C-Hexagon, Sardar Patel Marg and Gurgaon Road till 11 AM. DCW chief Swati Maliwal on Tuesday ended her dharna at St Stephen's Hospital where she had gone to meet the minor girl allegedly raped by a Delhi government official. Police also took the accused's wife into custody, they said, adding that the statement of the minor is being recorded.
