Electrocution incident: Delhi Police seeks info from electricity authority

The Delhi Police has asked the Central Electricity Authority of India to inspect the site at the New Delhi Railway Station complex where a woman teacher died of electrocution and give its opinion about how the incident may have occurred, an official said on Monday. It has also written to the divisional railway manager asking about who was responsible for the maintenance so that suitable action can be taken, the official said. The incident took place on Sunday morning near gate number 1 when Sakshi Ahuja was on her way to board a train to Chandigarh. Delhi Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa said, "We have registered a case and an investigation is being carried out." She said the site has been examined by forensic teams. Delhi Police destroys 16,000 kg seized narcotics on Int'l Drug Abuse Day

About 16,000 kilograms drugs and other psychotropic substances seized by the Delhi Police were destroyed in the northwestern part of the city on the International Day Against Drug Abuse Day on Monday, officials said. Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena inaugurated a programme at Biotic Waste Solutions Pvt Ltd in the RU Nagar Industrial area, GTK Road, where the drugs seized by the Crime Branch and Special Cell were destroyed, an official statement said. The Delhi Police is looking for three associates of a 22-year-old man who was arrested in connection with alleged molestation and attempted kidnap of two female students inside the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus, an officer said Thursday. Inebriated persons attempt to kidnap JNU students from campus, one caught

A day after a kidnapping bid by some inebriated men on the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus, a person was apprehended in connection with the case on Wednesday, the police said. The JNU Students' Union (JNUSU) alleged that some inebriated men in a car entered the campus and attempted to kidnap two students on Tuesday night, following which two cases were registered based on complaints from students. A court here on Wednesday came down hard on the Delhi Police for wrongly and casually clubbing as many as 27 complaints of separate incidents of rioting and arson during the 2020 northeast Delhi riots with a pre-existing FIR, and directed a senior police officer to ensure the additional complaints were investigated properly. The Delhi High Court Friday granted bail to ex-Fortis promoter Malvinder Mohan Singh and three others in a case of alleged misappropriation of funds of Religare Finvest Ltd (RFL) lodged by the Delhi Police. Besides Malvinder Mohan Singh, the high court also granted bail to former CMD of Religare Enterprises Ltd (REL) Sunil Godhwani, former CEO of REL Kavi Arora and Rajender Aggarwal, who was director or shareholder of certain companies to which loans were extended by RFL at the behest of its parent entity REL, which were then allegedly defaulted on.
