2020 riots: Court slams police for wrongly clubbing 27 complaints with FIR

A court here on Wednesday came down hard on the Delhi Police for wrongly and casually clubbing as many as 27 complaints of separate incidents of rioting and arson during the 2020 northeast Delhi riots with a pre-existing FIR, and directed a senior police officer to ensure the additional complaints were investigated properly. Additional Sessions Judge Pulastya Pramachala's order came while acquitting three people, who were named as accused in the original FIR with which 27 complaints were clubbed, for the offences of rioting and arson. Akil Ahmed, Raheesh Khan and Irshad were accused of being part of a rampaging mob that had looted and set ablaze the complainant's shop in Chandu Nagar on February 24, 2020 during the riots. The judge said the charges were not proved against them beyond reasonable doubt. Real estate fraud case: Emaar officials appear before Delhi Police's EOW

Senior officials of realty company Emaar India Limited appeared before the Delhi Police's Economic Offence Wing (EOW) on Friday in an alleged real estate fraud case following summons, sources said. "Officials representing Emaar met with EOW officials and shared the information sought. They assured extending all help with the investigation," a source in the EOW said. The EOW had issued notices for the personal appearances of Dubai-based Emaar Properties managing director Mohamed Ali Alabbar. EOW's RFL case: HC grants bail to Malvinder Singh and three others

The Delhi High Court Friday granted bail to ex-Fortis promoter Malvinder Mohan Singh and three others in a case of alleged misappropriation of funds of Religare Finvest Ltd (RFL) lodged by the Delhi Police. Besides Malvinder Mohan Singh, the high court also granted bail to former CMD of Religare Enterprises Ltd (REL) Sunil Godhwani, former CEO of REL Kavi Arora and Rajender Aggarwal, who was director or shareholder of certain companies to which loans were extended by RFL at the behest of its parent entity REL, which were then allegedly defaulted on. The Delhi Police on Wednesday said it has not found sufficient evidence to prove women wrestlers' allegations of sexual harassment against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and to arrest him. The police will submit a report in court within 15 days, a senior official said. "During the investigation so far, the police have not found sufficient evidence to arrest the WFI chief. There is also no supportive evidence to prove their (wrestlers) claim. A report will be submitted in court within 15 days which could be in the form of a charge sheet or final report," the officer said. The wrestlers, who had been protesting at Jantar Mantar since April 23 seeking the arrest of Singh, were removed from the site by the Delhi Police on Sunday after they tried to march to the new Parliament building that was inaugurated the same day. Delhi Police provides 'helicopter slithering' training to commandos

In view of the upcoming G20 Summit, Delhi Police gave training to its newly recruited commandos on 'helicopter slithering' at Delhi Police Academy in Jharoda Kalan, officials said on Tuesday. The training, which is a first of its kind by the police, was given to 55 male, 25 female and 15 SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) unit commandos, they said. The aim of the training is to ready the commandos for any potential evacuation during disasters or any terrorist incidents, police said, adding that the exercise was conducted using an M-17 Helicopter. The training was held in the presence of Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and other senior officers of the force, and was assisted by the Border Security Force, they added. According to police, slithering from a helicopter is risky, not only to the commando carrying out the procedure from an airborne helicopter but also to the pilot. It is more dangerous and challenging compared to the slithering exercise from a building or a tree.
