Sonam Wangchuk detained again after release, indefinite fast continues

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and 150 Ladakhis were again detained after they were released by the Delhi Police late Tuesday night, even as their indefinite fast continue at the police stations, officials said on Wednesday. Wangchuk and other detained Ladakhis were allowed to go on Tuesday night but they were adamant to march towards the central part of Delhi, therefore, they were detained again, a senior police officer told PTI. Wangchuk has been kept at the Bawana police station along with few others while others have been kept at Narela Industrial Area, Alipur and Kanjhawala police stations, he added. Wangchuk and those accompanying him were detained by the Delhi Police at the Singhu border on Monday night for violating prohibitory orders when they tried to enter the national capital to press for their demands. Draft Master Plan for Delhi 2041 will be notified soon: Manohar Lal Khattar

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said the draft Master Plan for Delhi-2041 (MPD) is currently under consideration and that it will be notified soon. Addressing a press conference on 100 days of the third term of the Modi government, Khattar said there have been some difficulties in preparing the final draft of the MPD, adding that some suggestions that have been received from the public are being considered. The approval of MPD has been pending for one-and-a-half years. In February last year, Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena approved the draft MPD, saying that its thrust is on inclusive development, sustainability and innovative interventions such as transit-oriented development hubs, land pooling, heritage and Yamuna rejuvenation, and regeneration of the city. Delhi Traffic Police issues over 87,000 challans this year till Sep 15

Delhi Traffic Police has issued over 87,000 challans and more than three lakh notices for red light violations this year till September 15, as per the official data. According to the police, challans are issued by the traffic personnel on-site while notices are generated online though the traffic violation detection cameras. The data showed that a total of 87,430 challans for red light violations were recorded this year till September 15 compared to 66,774 in 2023 and 67,462 in 2022. The highest numbers of 17,741 challans were issued in New Delhi district, followed by 11,211 in south district, 10,109 in west, 8,719 in southeast and 6,790 in southwest. Among the 15 police districts in Delhi, the least numbers of 1,140 challans were reported in northeast district, the data said. Additionally, 3,12,541 notices for red light violations were issued till September 15 this year against 5,90,227 in 2023 and 10,11,028 in 2022, the data stated. Man, 4 daughters found dead in rented house in Delhi's Vasant Kunj

The decomposed bodies of a 46-year-old man and his four daughters, two of them differently-abled, have been found from their rented accommodation in southwest Delhi's Vasant Kunj area, police said on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Heeralal Sharma, who worked as a carpenter at the Indian Spinal Injury Centre in Vasant Kunj for the last 28 years, and his four daughters -- Neetu (26), Nikki (24), Neeru (23) and Nidhi (20). The bodies, found on Friday afternoon, did not have any injury mark. Police found three packets of celphos poison, five glasses and a spoon containing a suspicious liquid from the house. Police suspect it to be a case of suicide as no evidence of any foul play has been found. While police said the two youngest daughters of the man were differently-abled, neighbours claimed that all four were physically challenged. Delhi Mayor asks for postponement of standing committee member election

Just an hour ahead of the poll to elect the last vacant standing committee seat, Mayor Shelly Oberoi directed MCD Commissioner Ashwani Kumar to stall the election on Friday so that it could be held on October 5, as per her earlier instructions. Following disruption over frisking of the councillors on Thursday, the election to the MCD Standing Committee was postponed till October 5 by Mayor Shelly Oberoi. Later Lt Governor VK Saxena, however, overturned the postponement of the elections and directed MCD Commissioner Ashwani Kumar to hold the election on Friday at 1 pm. In a letter, Oberoi asked the commissioner to ensure due legal compliance in holding the standing committee election on October 5. Delhi govt introduces mandatory one-year service bond for medical graduates

Delhi government has introduced a one-year mandatory service bond for medical students passing out from All India Quota and State Quota in both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs from medical institutions in Delhi. Under this new regulation, students graduating from undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including super-speciality programs, will be required to serve for one year in medical institutions under the Government of the National Capital Territory (GNCT) of Delhi, according to the order issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Delhi Government (GNCTD). At the time of admission, UG students will have to furnish a bond of Rs 15 lakh, while PG and super-specialty students will submit a bond of Rs 20 lakh. These bonds will be forfeited if a student opts out of the mandatory service period, as stated in the GNCTD order. Delhi to organise 'e-vehicle parade' in October to boost usage, sales

Delhi's environment department will organise an 'e-vehicle parade' at Rajghat in early October, aimed at encouraging the purchase and use of electric vehicles (EVs) in the city. Rau's IAS case: Court grants interim bail to coaching's CEO, coordinator

A Delhi court on Monday granted till December 7 interim bail to Rau's IAS Study Circle CEO Abhishek Gupta and its coordinator Deshpal Singh in a case related to the death of three civil services aspirants in July in the centre's flooded basement. Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna granted relief to the accused persons on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh each with two sureties of the like amount. The judge also directed Gupta to deposit Rs 2.5 crore till November 30 with Red Cross Society, saying that as per the lease agreement of the premises, the accused being the lessee and CEO of the institute alone, would responsible for any loss claim, and damages to any person or material. The judge noted that Gupta and Singh were CEO and coordinator of Rau's IAS Study Circle, respectively, and were in control of its affairs.

Mpox patient discharged from Delhi's LNJP Hospital after 12 days: Report

An Mpox patient admitted to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital here earlier this month has been discharged, the hospital officials confirmed. The 26-year-old patient, who had been admitted to the disaster ward dedicated to Mpox cases for almost 12 days, was discharged on Saturday. An official from the hospital confirmed "the only Mpox patient was discharged on September 21." The 26-year-old patient from Hisar, Haryana, was admitted to the hospital on September 8, with doctors confirming the diagnosis on September 9. The hospital has 20 isolation rooms, out of which 10 are for suspected cases and the remaining for confirmed Mpox patients.
