About 70 shanties were gutted after a fire broke out at a slum in Rohini, the Delhi Fire Service said Saturday. The incident took place on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, they said. No casualty has been reported. A call about the fire was received at 12.18 am and 14 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire was brought under control by 4.40 am, a senior Delhi Fire Service officer said. About 70 shanties were gutted in the fire that broke out at Rohini Sector 26, he said. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, officials added.

Three persons were killed Friday when a huge chunk of coal caved in on them during illegal mining in the Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) Rajapur open cast mines, police said. The incident happened in the morning at a place under Jharia police station, 22 km from district headquarters Dhanbad. A Guwahati-bound IndiGo aircraft with 76 passengers on board made an emergency landing within a few minutes of take-off after smoke was detected from the plane's cargo hold, an AAI official said. "The aircraft made a safe landing at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport here around 8.30 pm, 15 minutes after take-off," the Airports Authority of India (AAI) official said. The pilot had informed the air traffic control (ATC) soon after the smoke alarm went off in the cockpit, the official said.
