Philippine bus careens into ravine, killing 19, injuring 17
Police say at least 19 people were killed when a passenger bus careened off a road and fell into a ravine south of the Philippine capital. Police investigator Alexis Go tells The Associated Press that a mechanical problem may have caused the driver to lose control. Seventeen other people were injured in the crash last night in Sablayan town in Occidental Mindoro province. Police officer Ian Villanosa said today that the bus driver was among the dead. Villanosa said part of the winding road where the accident happened was under repair.

1 killed in British air force crash of Red Arrows jet
A jet belonging to the British military's Red Arrows aerobatic team crashed at an air base in Wales, killing an engineer and injuring the pilot, the air force said. The Royal Air Force confirmed yesterday that there had been an incident involving a Hawk jet, the type used by the Red Arrows. Group Capt. Nick Tucker-Lowe said a Red Arrows engineer had been killed in the "tragic accident" and the pilot was receiving medical care. He didn't disclose the pilot's condition or release the names of the air crew. The Welsh Ambulance Service said it was called last afternoon "to reports an aircraft had crashed" at RAF Valley, a training base near Holyhead in north Wales. Video shot by a witness showed black smoke billowing from the airfield. 4 killed, 40 injured in road accident in UP
Four people were killed and 40 others injured today when their tractor-trolley fell from a railway overbridge in Para locality of the state capital, police said. The deceased, hailing from Kannauj district, were returning home after paying a visit to Dewa Sharif Dargah in the neighbouring Barabanki district, they said. Around 40 others were injured in the accident, police said, adding that they have been admitted to a hospital where the condition of some of them was stated to be serious. The identity of those killed was being established, police said. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the death of four persons in the accident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the dependents of each of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those who were injured. The chief minister prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and directed the officials concerned to ensure all possible help to them, an official release here said.

One dies as loose mud caves in on him
A-45-year-old construction worker died after the loose mud caved in on him while working at a construction site here today, police said. Durairaj and five other workers were removing mud from the pit for laying pillar for a building when the loose mud fell on them, police said. Even as fire and rescue services personnel arrived the spot for rescue operations, five workers managed to come out with minor injuries. However, Durairaj could not be rescued. His body was retrieved, police said.

Stranded tourist dies of breathing problem at Sela Pass
A tourist from Maharasthra died at Sela Pass in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang district after he was stranded there for a day due to heavy snowfall, government officials said here today. He was got stuck there along with other tourists on Saturday and died on Sunday, the officials said. The tourist reportedly died due to breathing problem, they said. The last rites of the tourist was performed yesterday with support from the Tawang Monpa Employees Society (TMES), an official said. The family members of the deceased were present when the last rites were performed at the Changbu cremation ground, the official added. The other stranded tourists were rescued, he said.

IAF's Hawk aircraft crashes in Odisha, pilot safe
A Hawk aircraft of the Indian Air Force today crashed in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district during a routine training sortie after taking off from Kalaikunda airbase in West Bengal but the pilot managed to eject safely, police said. Eyewitnesses said that the plane went up in flames after it crashed on the banks of Subarnarekha river and its debris lay scattered at the site, police said. The incident occurred near Mahuladangiri under Saraskana block in Mayurbhanj district bordering Jharkhand, said Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of Jharpokharia police station, Sarat Kumar Mahalik. The pilot of the aircraft, however, ejected shortly before the crash, he said adding fire brigade and police team had also reached the site. A court of inquiry has been ordered into the accident, sources said. Hawk is an advanced trainer jet. A rescue team from Kaleikundua has reached the site in a helicopter to take stock of the situation, the IIC said, adding the trainee pilot was sent back in a helicopter.
Package bomb explodes at FedEx in Texas; 1 hurt
The San Antonio Texas Fire Department says a package bomb has exploded at a FedEx distribution center in Schertz, Texas, hurting 1 person, a FedEx employee who apparently suffered a non-life-threatening "percussion-type" injury from the blast. The FBI and ATF are at the scene. Federal agents say this package is likely linked to attacks by what they believe is a serial bomber. The package exploded last last night.
Delhi HC asks DGCA to list actions taken on faulty aircraft
In accordance with a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in connection with frequent grounding of several faulty Indigo A-320 neo aircraft around India, Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to reply on the actions taken against the same.The next hearing in this regard is scheduled to take place on April 13.From March 18 to 19, five Indigo A320 neo aircraft were grounded in New Delhi, Srinagar, Jammu and Mumbai due to technical glitches in the engines.According to the legal documents published by the High Court today it asked the DGCA to give a detailed list of the faulty aircraft under Aircraft Rules Act 1937 on the safety and security of the A320 Neos aircraft to prevent further operations around several airports around India.It also asked DGCA to publish all incidents and accidents on its website within 24 hours of its occurrence, and further publish safety reports, safety audit reports pertaining to airline operators' safety audits and .
