The incident occurred when the labourers were involved in some mining work at a hill in Rasiya village, they said. A fire broke out at jute mill here this afternoon, police said. There were no reports of any casualty, the police said. Four fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire which broke out at the jute mill on Narkeldanga Main Road at around 3 pm. Though the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, fire officials said that it could be because of short circuit. "There is a huge stock of inflammable materials inside the mill. The bus was on way to Banswara from Jodhpur with nearly 40 passengers on board when the accident occurred near Mewadia crossing in Charbhuja town of the district yesterday night. A union of rail employees has demanded that the national transporter make provisions for counsellors to address concerns of train guards in the backdrop of a slew of train accidents. The National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR) has written a letter to the Railway Board and said that just like such counselling is available for train drivers and their assistants, guards should also have access to regular counselling. The letter dated January 15 said the Muzaffarnagar train accident as well as subsequent incidents on the railway network had adversely impacted the Indian Railways' image. While the board had taken initiatives for improving safety standards, there was need for "greater vigil and alertness" to address the "human element". "The role of train guard is very crucial, safety oriented as the guard is also accountable for train safety as well as passenger safety," the letter from NFIR general secretary M Raghavaiah said. A portion of a slab of an old MHADA building collapsed today in suburban Andheri, following which four persons were rescued, a Mumbai fire brigade official said. The incident took place at around 10.30 am, the official said, adding on receiving a call fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and rescued four persons from the debris. "Of the rescued persons, a woman identified as Moniyara Shaikh was admitted to a civic-run hospital in an unconscious state," he said.
