DRDO successfully test fires first-of-its-kind naval anti-ship missile

India has successfully test fired a first-of-its-kind naval anti-ship missile from Chandipur off the coast of Odisha. The trials carried out on Tuesday demonstrated the missile's capability against ship targets, the defence ministry said. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy for successfully conducting the flight tests of the missile. The DRDO and the Navy carried out successful flight-trials of first-of-its-kind Naval Anti-Ship missile (NASM-SR) from Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, the ministry said. "The trials demonstrated the missile's capability against ship targets while launched from an Indian Naval Seaking helicopter," the ministry said. It said the "trials have proven the missile's Man-in-Loop feature and scored a direct hit on a small ship target in sea-skimming mode at its maximum range." DRDO successfully conducts scramjet engine test for hypersonic missiles

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted a ground test of scramjet combustor, demonstrating its potential for operational use in hypersonic missiles, the defence ministry said on Tuesday. Defence Research & Development Laboratory (DRDL), a Hyderabad-based laboratory of DRDO, has taken the initiative in developing a long-duration supersonic combustion ramjet or scramjet powered hypersonic technology, the ministry said in a statement. DRDL recently developed these technologies and demonstrated a cutting-edge active cooled scramjet combustor ground test for 120 seconds for the first time in India, it said. The successful ground test marks a "crucial milestone in developing next-generation hypersonic missiles", the ministry added. "The ground test of scramjet combustor showcased several notable achievements, demonstrating its potential for operational use in hypersonic vehicles, like successful ignition and stable combustion," the statement ..

House panel asks DRDO to excel R-D warfare in hybrid, kinetic, non-kinetic

Underlining that the ongoing conflict in the international arena has revealed the "hazards of a hybrid warfare", a parliamentary panel has recommend that the DRDO should expand its R&D efforts to enhance combat readiness against any non-conventional warfare and security threats. In its report tabled in Parliament on Tuesday, the committee has noted "with concern that out of 55 projects, 23 were not completed within the stipulated time". "Although, 571 projects worth Rs 34161.58 cr have been successfully completed and closed during the last 10 years (1 Jan 2012 -- till date), with respect to projects which were partially successful or unsuccessful, eight such projects worth Rs 770.31 cr were stage closed during this period," the report said. The Authority Holding Sealed Particulars (AHSP) of the P-7 Parachute System has been handed over to the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) by a key DRDO laboratory, the defence ministry said on Tuesday.
