Two persons were injured Monday in a minor fight that broke out between two groups of students inside the Jamia Millia Islamia, the police said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said the police were informed around 5 pm that some students have been surrounded by other students at SRK Masjid inside the varsity. "Enquiry revealed that it was a quarrel between two groups of students in which two students sustained simple injuries. Legal action is being taken," he said. The officer said the action is being taken on statement of one student whose medical examination was carried out. Two persons have been detained, he said. The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) has been informed by the authorities that the election of its office-bearers will be nullified if they do not submit original bills of campaign expenditure bearing the GST number, according to a letter issued to the students' body. The university authorities said the bills submitted were not in the correct format. The elected office-bearers of the union had submitted proofs of the expenditure they had incurred during the campaign for the students' body election on September 28, but was asked to submit the original bills in a letter from Dean of Students (DoS) Professor Umesh Kadam on October 4. A police complaint was Monday filed by the SC-ST Teachers Association of the Delhi University over a "racist and misogynist question" asked in an examination conducted for recruitment of primary teachers. DU professor Hansraj Suman, who is the president of the varsity's SC-ST Teachers Association, demanded action against the officials responsible for the error. He submitted a complaint to the Maurice Nagar police station Monday. Police confirmed that they have received the complaint. The examination was conducted by the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) on Saturday. The multiple choice question number 61 in the Hindi Language and Comprehension paper used some derogatory terms for describing the Dalit community. The DSSSB in a statement on Sunday said the question with "casteist" undertones appeared due to an "inadvertent error". It added that the question would not be considered during the evaluation process.

The craze for selfie claimed the lives of three teenage students as they drowned in Nijagalkere lake on the outskirts of Bengaluru Monday, police said. The boys were among 50 students from Siddaganga Pre-University College in Tumakuru district who had come to Dobbespet to take part in the National Service Scheme (NSS) camp for service. Three students, in the age group of 16-17, went to the Siddheshwara shrine. They later went to see the nearby lake there and could not resist the temptation to click a selfie.
