MG Motor, Epsilon tie up for EV charging solutions, battery recycling

MG Motor India on Thursday said it has partnered with the Epsilon Group for EV charging solutions and battery recycling. As part of the collaboration, the automaker has signed an MoU with two Epsilon Group subsidiaries - Power EV, for charging solutions and LICO, for battery recycling and second-life expertise. As per the agreement, Power EV will provide Custom Charging technology to develop AC and DC charging solutions for charging solutions for MG's EVs. Through active involvement in the MG charge initiative deploying 1,000 charging points in 1,000 days within residential communities and apartments across India Power EV aims to bolster the existing public charging network by expanding the availability of AC chargers and introducing high-capacity DC charging options, MG Motor India said in a statement. Tata Motors commences production at Sanand plant it acquired from Ford

Tata Motors on Friday said it has commenced production at its new production facility at Sanand in Gujarat. Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, a unit of Tata Motors, had acquired the facility from Ford India for Rs 725.7 crore in January last year. "We have successfully retooled the factory in the shortest span of 12 months, taking it to a new level to accommodate a wide range of existing products and future new models to come," Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) MD Shailesh Chandra said in a statement. The facility will play a pivotal role in steering Tata Motors, especially TPEM, towards achieving newer feats, he added. "With existing capacities near saturation, this new facility will unlock an additional manufacturing capacity of 3 lakh units per annum which is scalable to 4.2 lakh units per annum," Chandra said. Tata Power on Tuesday said it has ramped up Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure on the Chandigarh-Shimla route to facilitate eco-friendly travel. The route connects two major cities -- Chandigarh and Shimla -- serving as a crucial link for travellers and businesses alike. "Tata Power, one of India's largest and leading EV charging solutions providers announced the activation of its EV charging infrastructure along the Chandigarh- Shimla highway, covering a total distance of 111 kms and addressing the demand for reliable charging options on this popular route," a company statement said. Vedanta group firm Hindustan Zinc partners with Inland EV Green Services

Vedanta group firm Hindustan Zinc on Monday said it has partnered with Inland EV Green Services for deployment of 10 electric vehicle trucks. The move aims at reducing carbon emissions and promote cleaner modes of transportation. Dedicated to the inter-operations transport of concentrates, these eco-friendly trucks reaffirms the company's commitment to green and sustainable practices, it said. These trucks have a charging capacity of 20 to 100 per cent in just 90 minutes, the company added. "Our collaboration with Inland EV Green Services Pvt Ltd represents a significant step forward in our decarbonisation journey," Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Misra said.

EV motorcycle startup Raptee raises $3 mn pre-Series A funding round

Premium EV motorcycle startup Raptee on Tuesday said it has raised USD 3 million in a pre-Series A funding round. The all-equity funding round led by deep-tech VC fund BlueHill Capital, also saw participation from industry stalwarts as well as HNIs, Raptee said in a statement. The funds will be utilised for augmenting the manufacturing facility, acquiring machinery, tooling for the soon-to-be launched motorcycle, and to scale up the team, it said. "This is our first institutional round. We want to launch a motorcycle in a mid-premium segment. SnapE cabs to more than double fleet in FY'24, expand to smaller cities

Ride-hailing app SnapE, which operates EV cabs, is planning to more than double its current fleet by the end of FY'24, and venture into smaller cities, a company official said on Tuesday. The company also plans to induct more women drivers in its workforce, said Mayank Bindal, the managing director of EC Wheels, which operates under the SnapE brand. "Besides expanding in the greater Kolkata region, which is our base, we plan to venture into smaller cities such as Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Varanasi, Raipur, Indore, Bhopal, Jaipur and Ahmedabad over the next few years because of the potential of the untapped market," he told PTI in an interview. "We also want to provide affordable green vehicles to tourists, and are targeting the Varanasi-Ayodhya-Chitrakoot and Puri-Bhubaneswar-Konark-Chilika circuits initially," he said.
