Veteran actor Ed Harris said it was a "foolish" decision to say no to a role in Stanley Kubrick's Vietnam war film "Full Metal Jacket". The "Westworld" actor, who has over the years worked with the likes of James Cameron, Ron Howard, David Cronenberg and Darren Aronfosky among others, was offered the role of foul-mouthed Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, which was eventually played by R Lee Ermey. Ermey, 74, died last month from "complications of pneumonia". Harris made the revelation in an interview with Los Angeles Times terming it as one of his career regrets. "Stanley Kubrick called me up one day and asked me to play the sergeant in 'Full Metal Jacket', and I said no," Harris said. "(R Lee Ermey) was great and did a much better job than I would have done. But that always make me kind of go, 'What were you thinking about?' It might have been that I had a few too many beers that night. It was foolish," he added. The espionage thriller will be helmed by Yuval Adler, who has also penned the script of the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Kruger, 41, will portray the role of an FBI agent who is recruited by Israel's Mossad service to go undercover in Tehran. Anvar, best known for films such as "Source Code" and "Room", will play Farhad, Kruger's love interest in the film. HBO Documentary Films has green lit a docuseries based on Michelle McNamara's bestselling true-crime book "I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer". The book is based on a serial killer, who committed 50 home-invasion sexual assaults and ten murders during the 1970s and '80s. He was dubbed as 'The Golden State Killer'. The docuseries, which is currently in production, will be directed by Academy Award nominee and Emmy winner Liz Garbus, HBO said in a statement.
