"Andaz Apna Apna" was originally planned with Amrish Puri playing 'Zorambo', an antithesis to his iconic Mogambo from "Mr India", a new book says. But the character could not make it to the big screen due to length issues of the film, according to "In A Cult of Their Own: Bollywood Beyond Box Office". The book, by Amborish Roychoudhury, also reveals how the iconic character of Crime Master Gogo, played by Shakti Kapoor, came into being. The film starred Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Viju Khote and Shahzad Khan. Upon release in 1994, the comic caper had an underwhelming show at the box office but eventually achieved a cult status. Rajkumar Santoshi, the director of the film, had originally planned to create a Bizarro-like character for Mogambo. Bizarro, a fictional supervillain appearing in DC comic books, is the "mirror image" of Superman. Zorambo was the bumbling twin, who speaks and behaves the exact opposite. A perennially upset character ...

Music composer-singer Adnan Sami says though he is ecstatic about the ABBA reunion, the comeback of The Beatles, if it could happen, would have been the "greatest" of all time. The 44-year-old composer's comments come after the Swedish quartet announced they will be releasing new music for the first time in 35 years. "The 'ABBA' reunion is being flouted as the most anticipated 'ever'; I do agree, but I also feel that the greatest reunion would have been, but could never be and will never be, is of 'The Beatles'!" Sami tweeted along with the photograph of the British band. The Beatles comprised John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The members went on to enjoy success in their individual music careers after the band split in 1970. Lennon was shot dead outside his New York City home in December 1980 and Harrison passed away from lung cancer in November 2001.

Rishi Kapoor says the fact that aspiring actors are more focused on gymming than the craft, makes him feel disheartened. The 65-year-old veteran actor, however, said he is in favour of joining film schools or getting trained on the sets, as he believes an actor can do well by "observing" their seniors. "I am observing that to become an actor, people say, they want to join gym. Why join a gym? Why don't you join an institute where they teach you how to act? You must work with a good director and work in a film where you have good actors, so you should observe the actor and understand things," Rishi told PTI. Citing example of his son, Ranbir, who worked as an assistant director on Sanjay Leela Bhasali's "Black" before making his acting debut with "Saawariya", the actor said, "Observation is a big tool for any actor. You observe and you bank it in your mind. I don't know why all these actors think going to a gym or riding horses or learning how to fight are the steps to becoming an ...

Hansal Mehta's "Omerta" tracks the story of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh and the director says through this film he wants to provoke a thought among people about state sponsored terrorism. Sheikh, a British terrorist of Pakistan descent, was involved in the 9/11 terror attacks and killing of American journalist Daniel Pearl. He is currently in prison in Pakistan serving the life sentence. "There are some standard emotions that a film leaves you with like happiness, sadness, this (film) would leave you angry. We live in a world where a villain like this exists and yet we are silent about it," Mehta told PTI. "There is deadly silence about the truth surrounding state sponsored terrorism. It exists yet we do not talk about it. Governments don't talk about it because the business of war keeps the government solvent," he says. Today everyone is busy in their own lives and do not care about things happening in the world until something affects them directly, Mehta points out. "...Only when ...
Vicky Kaushal says it would be unfair to call his next "Raazi", a film based on 1971 War between India-Pakistan, as the movie explores much deeper themes in its narrative. President Donald Trump swapped one Washington for another, pointedly opting to connect with American "deplorables" in a Michigan town rather than exchange barbs at the "phony" White House correspondents dinner. The US leader attended a campaign-style rally in Washington Township, north of Detroit, to tout what his team hails as an economic revival on the same evening that the White House press corps hosts its annual dinner. "By the way, is this better than that phony Washington White House correspondents dinner?" an animated Trump asked the cheering crowd. "I could be up there tonight smiling like I love when they are hitting you shot after shot," he said. "If you don't smile they will say he was terrible. He couldn't take it. If you do smile, they will say what was he smiling about." Trump, who has frequently attacked the media and its coverage of him since his days as a presidential candidate, snubbed the press dinner for a second consecutive year since taking office. "Why would I ..
