Hansal Mehta to make directorial debut on digital platform with 'The Scam'
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta is set to make his directorial debut on digital platform with "The Scam", based on India's biggest securities scams of 1992. The web series, produced by Applause Entertainment, is based on the book of the same name by Sucheta Dalal and Debashish Basu. "Telling the story of the individuals behind India's biggest financial scams will make for some riveting viewing. The collaboration with Hansal came as a happy surprise. Hansal Mehta is one of the finest directors we have in the country and we couldn't have thought of a better person than him to direct and lead this financial drama," Sameer Nair, CEO, Applause Entertainment, said in a statement. 'Beyond The Clouds' celebrates family relationships bonded by love, not blood
The makers of acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi's India-set film "Beyond The Clouds" said the movie showcases that familial bonds are "not bonded by blood but by love". Produced by Zee Studios and Namah Pictures, the film marks the debut of actor Ishaan Khatter and the Hindi film debut for Malavika Mohanan. The duo play siblings Amir and Tara and the film is a sneak-peek into their lives in the Mumbai slums. The second trailer of the movie, which was launched today, throws more light on these two characters. "Human relationships, emotions and family form the base of every Majid Majidi film. With 'Beyond The Clouds', he has taken this belief up a notch showcasing family relationships not bonded by blood but by love. Actor Hugh Jackman has asked his fans to be wary of online scam artistes impersonating as him who end up stealing money and misusing personal information. The 49-year-old star took to Twitter to warn his followers about these crooks and said that he was trying to put an end to the menace from his end. "I'm aware that people are pretending to be me on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Please do not respond, give money or your personal information... I am working from my end to stop these folks as best as possible," Jackman wrote. A feature film on the life and times of 'Rosogolla' inventor in Bengal, Nobin Chandra Das, in 19th century Kolkata as the backdrop, is set to hit the screens by this year-end. The Bengali film 'Rosogolla' seeks to capture the journey of Das, from a humble background to a business tycoon. Das had invented Rosogolla by dipping cotton cheese ball in sugary syrup (in 1868) after trying various combinations. The film is being directed by Pavel and produced by Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay and Nandita Roy, directors of a string of blockbusters. "Being a feature film, it is not a biopic. Filmmaker Aanand L Rai's home production company Colour Yellow Productions has signed on Navdeep for a film that features Saif in the lead and he will be joined Zoya and actor Manav Vij.
