Stephen Hawking dies, world loses its brightest star
Renowned British physicist Professor Stephen Hawking, who shaped modern cosmology and inspired millions despite suffering from a life-threatening condition, died on Wednesday. He was 76.
Paul Feig adds inclusion rider at Feigco Entertainment
Director-producer Paul Feig is the latest to adapt the inclusion rider as part of all the feature film and television productions at his Feigco Entertainment. "Thrilled to announce that Feigco Entertainment is officially adopting an inclusion rider for all our film and TV productions moving forward. Thank you to @Inclusionists and Stacy L Smith for their guidance and inspiration. We challenge other companies and studios to do the same," Feig wrote on Twitter. The move came a week and a half after Frances McDormand sparked interest and support for the term after she concluded her Oscars best actress acceptance speech by saying, "I have two words to leave with you tonight, ladies and gentlemen: inclusion rider." Earlier, Michael B Jordan had announced that he would add the inclusion rider to all projects produced by his company, Outlier Society Productions. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have also decided that their Pearl Street company would do the same.
Madonna to direct ballerina drama 'Taking Flight'
Pop star Madonna is set to direct the MGM drama "Taking Flight," based on the life of ballerina Michaela De Prince. The studio has been developing "Taking Flight" since 2015, when it first bought rights to Michaela and Elaine DePrince's memoir, "Taking Flight: From War Orphan to Star Ballerina." The book follows Michaela DePrince's life from an orphan in war-torn Sierra Leone to a world-renowned ballerina. The singer will direct from a screenplay by Camilla Blackett, reported Entertainment Weekly. "Michaela's journey resonated with me deeply as both an artistE and an activist who understands adversity. We have a unique opportunity to shed light on Sierra Leone and let Michaela be the voice for all the orphaned children she grew up beside. I am honored to bring her story to life," Madonna said. Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker has moved on from the box-office debacle of "Mohenjo Daro" with a new historical drama based on the third battle of Panipat. Featuring Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt the film is titled "Panipat: The Great Betrayal" and the first teaser poster was released today by the team. Actor Narendra Jha passed away on Wednesday morning following a cardiac arrest. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has assured his fans and well wishers that he is doing well after getting treated by his team of doctors. Yesterday, the 75-year-old actor's cryptic blog post on getting his doctors from Mumbai to "fiddle around" with his body had sparked worries about his health. "I am getting my team of Doctors in tomorrow morning to fiddle around with my body and set me up again... I will rest and keep informed in process," Bachchan, who is in the city to shoot for "Thugs of Hindostan" wrote in his blog. His wife Jaya Bachchan said he had pain in his neck and back due to the heavy costumes of the film. Bachchan today again took to his blog and other social media accounts to give a health update. In a poetic post in Hindi the actor said he was not feeling well and had to call his doctors for the treatment, but now he is doing fine.
