Vanessa Williams joins 'False Profits' cast

Vanessa Williams is set to star in the ABC drama pilot "False Profits" in a series regular role. The show follows a team of down-and-out women in suburban Arizona as they fight their way to the top of the cutthroat world of a multi-level marketing cosmetics business. Williams will play Suzanne, the leader of a highly successful group of saleswomen, reported Variety. The series already features Bellamy Young, Kosha Patel, Kapil Talwalkar, and Shelley Hennig. Kayla Alpert will serve as writer and executive producer on "False Profits." Jason Reed and Sabrina Wind will also executive via Jason T Reed Productions, with Paul McGuigan directing.

Tiffany Haddish joins Tyler Perry comedy 'The List'

Tiffany Haddish is set to star in Tyler Perry's comedy film "The List." The movie also features Tika Sumpter and Omari Hardwick, reported Variety. Perry is directing from his own script and producing. Paramount Players has already set a November 2 release date for the film. Haddish will play a wild woman who gets released from prison and reunites with her sister, played by Sumpter. Sumpter's character is in an online relationship with a man that may be "catfishing" her.

Beth Behrs to star in comedy pilot 'Our People'

"2 Broke Girls" alum Beth Behrs has been roped in to play the lead in Fox comedy pilot 'Our People'. Based on the Endemol Shine Israeli format "Nevsu: A Young Multi-Cultural Couple," the project follows Abel, a man from a bombastic African family who does not have a world in their native language for "privacy," and his fiancee Jenny (Behrs), who hails from a mid-western family, as they try to build a normal life together. The show also stars Lea Thompson, who will play Jenny's mother, Lisa, reported Variety. "Our People" received a pilot commitment at the network in September. Vali Chandrasekaran will write in addition to executive producing. Trent O'Donnell is set to direct the pilot.

Jay-Z and Beyonce share 'On the Run 2' tour date then retract it

Pop diva Beyonce announced that she and JAY-Z would be co-headlining an "On The Run 2" tour this summer, but the post was quickly deleted. According to Complex magazine, the Facebook post was taken down within minutes. However, fans were quick to capture screen grabs of the listing, which said the first concert would kick off on Monday, July 30, at Philadelphias Lincoln Financial Field. Pre-sale tickets for the shows were set to go on sale on Ticketmaster.com from tomorrow, according to screen shots of the temporary announcement, but because the posts were taken down, there is no official word as to when the tickets will go on sale. Jay-Z and Beyonce last toured together in 2014 for the first "On the Run" tour, supporting her self-titled 2013 album and Jay's "Magna Carta Holy Grail.

Book signed by Tagore up for auction

A signed hardcover copy of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore's 'The King of the Dark Chamber' - the English translation of his famous Bengali play 'Raja' - is up for auction in the US. Signed on a prefatory page in fountain pen by Tagore, the Bolpur edition of the book was published by The Macmillan Company in 1916. The play revolves around a mysterious, unseen, omniscient king, who is both benevolent and efficient. His reluctance towards being seen causes most of the drama in the story, rattling his beautiful wife and the kings of nearby kingdoms. The book was consigned by an American book dealer, according to US-based RR Auction. It is expected to fetch USD 500 at the online auction. Tagore became the first Indian to win a Nobel Prize (Literature) in 1913. He wrote successfully in all literary genres, but was first and foremost a poet, publishing more than 50 volumes of poetry.
