"Deadpool" has become the owner of the Portland-based liquor company, Aviation Gin. The 41-year-old actor shared the news on Twitter and said that he has bought the ownership stake in the company. HC rejects plea alleging glorification of Sati in 'Padmaavat'
The Delhi High Court today rejected a plea seeking penal action against the producers and director of Bollywood movie 'Padmaavat' for alleged glorification of the practice of 'sati'. A bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar dismissed the plea saying the petitioner should have approached the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) at an appropriate time. "The film stands released without any complaints and it is already in public domain. If the petitioner was having any complaint with regard to the issue raised in his writ petition, he should have made complaint before the CBFC at an appropriate time. We find no merit in the petition. The same is dismissed." the court said. A PIL by social activist Swami Agnivesh had sought deletion of the scenes that depict the practice of 'sati'. Veteran actor Meryl Streep has slammed disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein for dragging her name in a sexual misconduct lawsuit against him. Weinstein had mentioned the names of prominent Hollywood A-listers, including Streep, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lawrence in his defense filing against a class-action sexual misconduct lawsuit to prove that not all women had a negative experience of working with him. IMPPA restates its stand on ban of Pakistani actors
Turns out, Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association (IMPPA) is not retracting its stand on the issue of Pakistani actors working in India, anytime soon.The president of IMPPA, T.P. Aggarwal, talked to ANI about the matter and said that the organisation had opposed the paying of Rs 5 crore to Pakistani artist, Fawad Khan, for a Karan Johar movie.He further claimed that the IMPPA is against the view of allowing Pak artists in Bollywood.For the unversed, the IMPPA had passed a resolution to ban actors of Pakistani descent from the Indian film industry in the wake of Uri attack in September 2017.Several films, including 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', received a lot of criticism from political parties post the attacks, which saw 18 Indian jawans dead.
Paul King in talks to helm 'Pinocchio'
"Paddington 2" helmer Paul King is in negotiations to direct the live action remake of Disney classic "Pinocchio". The film, based on the famous 1940 cartoon, is in works at the Disney with Andrew Miano and Chris Weitz producing it. "Wonder" scribe Jack Thorne has penned the script, reported Variety. "Spectre" helmer Sam Mendes was earlier in talks to helm the project but he left it in November last year. The film's story revolves around a wooden puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy. It marks yet another live-action remake of a classic Disney movie, with success of "The Jungle Book" and "Beauty and the Beast" in the past. King is also in negotiations to helm a reboot of "Willy Wonka", which revolves around an 11-year-old Charlie Bucket and the eccentric chocolatier, Willy Wonka, who decides to re-open his factory. The project is being produced by David Heyman, which is based on Roald Dahl's classic children's book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".

Oscar winner Viola Davis will star in Amazon Studio's feature film "Troupe Zero". The film's script has been penned by "Beasts of the Southern Wild" scribe Lucy Alibar, with director duo Bert and Bertie helming it, reported Variety. Todd Black, who previously worked with Davis on "Fences", for which she won an Oscar, and also Antwone Fisher, is producing the project with Amazon fully financing it.
