'Oru Adaar Love' director thanks supporters after SC stay
The director of the controversial film 'Oru Adaar Love' has expressed his gratitude over the Supreme Court order in regard to the film.Omar Lulu, the 33-year-old Malayalam director, told ANI, "Our whole crew was tensed with so many cases being filed on us. We are really happy with the order of the Supreme Court. We are thankful to all the people who supported us and our film".Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court had stayed all the cases pending against the filmmaker and Malayalam actor and internet sensation Priya Prakash Varrier.The apex court further said that no criminal proceedings will take place against them till further hearing.Varrier, on Monday, had filed a plea in the court over the case registered against her film 'Oru Adaar Love' in Telangana.The Raza Academy, on February 16, had penned a letter to Union Information and Broadcasting minister Smriti Irani seeking a ban on Varrier's song from her debut movie.The complainants alleged the film's song 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi' .

Delhi HC issues notice to makers of Jaswant Singh Rawat biopic
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued a notice to film producers and the Central government over a petition opposing the making of a film about rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, who died in 1962 Indo-China war.The High Court also sought a reply from the makers by August 8.According to reports, the family members of Army legend Rawat, who was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra for gallantry, have been opposing the making of a film, saying the story was a violation of copyright as well as breach of their privacy.

"Slumdog Millionaire" helmer Danny Boyle' name is at the top of the list of directors being considered for the next James Bond movie. Boyle, who won the 2009 Best Director Oscar for his India-set "Slumdog Millionaire", also has critically-acclaimed titles such as "Trainspotting" and "127 Hours" to his credit. The 61-year-old director is a favourite of Eon Productions and MGM Studios for the next installment in the James Bond series, reported Variety. Director Ryan Coogler has penned a letter to the fans of his film "Black Panther", which is breaking box-office records all over the world. SC stays criminal proceedings against Priya Varrier, film director
The Supreme Court today came to the rescue of actress Priya Prakash Varrier, who shot into limelight after her 'wink' video went viral, by staying criminal proceedings against her in some states on the grounds that a song from her film allegedly hurt religious sentiments of the Muslim community. A bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud also extended similar relief to the director of the Malayalam movie "Oru Adaar Love". In a bid to give users enhanced control over what they share, Instagram announced modifications to its privacy settings, thereby enabling increased usage of Instagram Direct.The social media company announced that a user who sends an ephemeral photo or video from the Instagram Direct camera can decide whether recipients can view it once, replay it temporarily or see a permanent thumbnail of it in the chat log, reports TechCrunch.As per the current setting, all messages could be replayed temporarily but would later disappear.
