People assume TV actors only know over-the-top acting: Radhika

Radhika Madan transitioned from being a successful TV star to a film actor earlier this year, which made her realise people have strong prejudices against small screen actors. Radhika gained fame for featuring on the show "Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi" for nearly two years before making her big screen debut with Vishal Bhardwaj's "Pataakha". "When you transition from TV to films, people assume that on TV there's a particular type of acting where you're doing stuff which is very over the top. They also need to understand that when people are watching TV, they are also doing ten other things," Radhika told PTI. "To grab their attention, you need to do a little extra. It's not like a cinema hall, where the lights go off and you only have the screen to focus on," she adds. Her successful stint on TV made her realise that "stardom is temporary" and often just a by-product of good work. "I always knew that stardom is very temporary. In TV, I knew fame vanishes as quickly as it comes. Till your ..

Cinema is a major part of people's lives, says Supriya Pathak

Supriya Pathak, who has worked in all the mediums of storytelling, believes nothing can beat the cinema experience. Pathak says web is the strongest medium currently as it has the ability to reach out to more people and engage viewers with interesting and layered stories. "When TV came, it was a very strong medium. It reached out to so many people and it could have made difference but we got into mundaneness of it. I think it will not hopefully happen to this new medium. It has lot of scope. "I hope we keep the momentum alive and keep it going strong. We as actors can help. In cinema, there are budget constraints and on TV, it has become a sad situation, so this medium has opened up new doors. We have been given opportunity to tell interesting stories," Pathak told PTI. "I'm hoping it gets better, I'm hoping more people get involved. I hope that people start taking indie-comics more seriously, as opposed to saying 'Oh! We want Marvel and DC'," Anant of Mega Desi Comics told PTI. With about 200 participants selling different comics, books, apparel and merchandise, Jatin Varma, founder of Comic Con India, acknowledged that superheroes like Batman, Spiderman and Avengers get a lot of excitement as they were very well-known properties. But, from the Indian perspective, Varma said it was more of curiosity and introduction. "Because they (people) don't know a lot of the content that is new. ..
