Sony working on 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' sequel, spin-off

Sony has started planning a sequel to "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" even before the feature hits the theatres. The studio is developing a "Spider-Verse" sequel, which will continue the adventures of Brooklyn teen Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore), according to The Hollywood Reporter. The animated feature, directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman and also featuring actors Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry, Hailee Steinfeld and Lily Tomlin, is set to release on December 14. For the sequel, Sony tapped Joaquim Dos Santos, best known for "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and "Voltron" series, as the director while David Callaham is penning the script. The studio is also working multiple spin-offs, including an all-female Spider-Women film that will focus on three generations of web-slinging women. China's online streaming users exceed 600 mln

The number of online streaming service users in China had reached 609 million as of June this year, according to an industry report released Wednesday. China's online video market is estimated to exceed 201.6 billion yuan (USD 29 billion) in 2018, up 39.1 per cent year-on-year, according to the 2018 China Online Streaming Development Study Report. The report was released by China Netcasting Services Association (CNSA) on the sidelines of the ongoing 6th China Internet Radio & Video Convention, held in Chengdu, capital city of southwest China's Sichuan Province, state-run Xinhua news agency reported on Wednesday. Strong growth has been posted in the short-video market. As of June, the number of short-video users had reached 594 million, accounting for 97.5 per cent of China's total online streaming users. Kolkata Book Fair from January 30

Guatemala will be the theme country of the 43rd International Kolkata Book Fair which is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 30 next year, the organisers said Wednesday. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the fair which will be held at the Central Park in Salt Lake. The UK, USA, Russia, China, Japan, Vietnam apart from 11 Latin American countries and Bangladesh will participate in the fair, they said. Iran is scheduled to participate for the first time in the book fair, which will conclude on February 10, Publishers and Booksellers Guild general secretary Tridib Chatterjee told reporters at a press conference Wednesday. Jordon Peele to write-produce 'Candyman' sequel

Filmmaker Jordon Peele, who directed last year's horror thriller "Get Out", is all set to co-write and co-produce a sequel to the 1992 horror movie "Candyman". The original film featured Tony Todd as the hook-weilding supernatural killer who, according to a legend appears after his name is called five times, reported Entertainment Weekly. Bernard Rose directed the film from a script by Clive Barker, based on his short story The Forbidden.
