I believed in marathon, not 100m dash: Anil Kapoor

Anil Kapoor on Tuesday said he always strived for "longevity" as an actor in films and never wanted to become an instant star. The actor said he realised early on that he needs to work on his fitness to be able to maintain the stamina to play diverse roles. "I believed in marathon. I was never for a 100m dash. That be a big star in five-six years and get faded away. I've been in this business for 38 years now. The reason is I was consistent, committed, worked hard and I was never delusional about myself. I worked with good directors. I listened more than I would talk. "I worked towards my physicality because I need that strength and stamina to portray all the characters. In trying to maintain the energy to be in front of the camera, I started looking after myself," Anil said. Special children, senior citizens visit naval base in Kochi

As part of Navy Week-2018 celebrations, special children and senior citizens of Kochi were taken on a guided tour of the naval base here Tuesday. About 60 special children and nearly 100 senior citizens were taken on-board the navy ships Tir and Shardul, a press release from the defence said. Besides the visit to ships, the visitors were treated to an exhibition and a film on the navy, the release said. Later, they witnessed a 'continuity drill' performed by the navy personnel, it said.

Direct-to-home operator Tata Sky Tuesday said it has partnered with ShortsTV to offer a host of short films to the Indian viewers on a single platform that can be accessed on-the-go. Through this partnership, the newly launched platform Tata Sky ShortsTV, will provide about 600 hours of short format stories on a single platform that can be accessed on-the-go. Playback singer Mohammed Aziz passes away

Singer Mohammed Aziz, who did playback for artistes such as Amitabh Bachchan, Govinda and Rishi Kapoor, passed away Tuesday. He was 64. "He was brought dead to the hospital at 3.17 pm. The body has left from Nanavati hospital for post-mortem," hospital officials told PTI. The cause of death will be known after post-mortem, the hospital sources said. However, media reports claimed that he died of cardiac arrest. Aziz, who has over 20,000 songs to his credit, has sung in Bollywood, Bengali and Odia film industries. He has recorded several devotional Bhajans and Sufi songs as well. He made his film debut with Bengali film, "Jyoti". Later he got a break when music director Anu Malik asked him to sing the song "Mard Taangewala" for Bachchan starrer "Mard". He has done playback singing for actors such as Bachchan, Govinda, Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty and several others.

Actor-comedian Amy Sedaris has joined the voice cast of Disney's live-action remake of "The Lion King". Directed by Jon Favreau, the film's voice cast includes Donald Glover as Simba; Beyonce Knowles-Carter as Nala and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar. Sedaris, 57, will be voicing an elephant shrew, a small rodent known for its long nose and for being a speedy runner, reported Variety.
